Just after new years, Ascella was given a task.
The task came directly from the desk of Albus Dumbledore.
She had to work at the Ministry under the Minister of Magic, find out as much information as she could, and report back to Dumbledore. Nobody else would know.As if he didn't have enough Aurors on their side.
As if he didn't have Moody.
He needed someone even further inside than Alastor Moody himself.See, getting in was the easy part.
Ascella was probably the most qualified out of all of her friends and the Minister saw it in her grades. They were incredibly smart despite their mischievous tendencies, yet Ascella took classes that they refused to.
The hard part was working there for six months with thirty minute lunch breaks and nothing more - at least she was getting paid.
If Ascella wasn't in her office sorting paperwork or in a Wizengamot trial alongside the Minister, she could be found having lunch in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement with James and Sirius.
"Good afternoon, Ascella." A voice said from the doorway of her office. She lifted her gaze to see a familiar man.
"Afternoon Arthur. . . I see you come bearing more work for me.""Yes, unfortunately. There seems to be more every day."
Ascella laughed lightly and nodded. "You're not wrong. I'm practically swimming in bills that these filthy blood supremacists want passed or already did."There was a brief moment of silence.
"Well then, you're not going to like any of this."
"Why is that?" Ascella eyed the thick stack of papers wearily.
"Straight from the desk of Delores Umbridge.""All of it?"
"All of it." Arthur confirmed, handing the stack of papers to Ascella. Immediately, he saw the anger flash in her gray eyes."These are all Minister approved. . . And anti-werewolf." Ascella scoffed in disbelief. She read through them again, hoping she read wrong. She didn't.
"Do you realize how wrong this is? The Minister approved all of this rubbish! Starting in August werewolves can't get Healthcare, they can't get jobs, they can't buy a home - they have to inherit one or be homeless. . . This is horrible, Arthur, they didn't ask to be like this. . . None that I'm aware of asked to be bitten."
"I'm aware of how wrong it is. . . Unfortunately we don't have the power to do anything about it. Perhaps if we get a new minister of magic next year, the legislation could be scrapped."
Ascella was quiet for a moment.
"The minister wouldn't be able to undo the current legislation until three years in the position, if they would even consider it."

"
What's got you in a sour mood this evening?" James questioned his wife who had been staring holes into the table for the last forty minutes, completely ignoring her tea.
"Delores Umbridge. The bloody Minister of Magic." Ascella answered simply with a scowl.
"What did they do now?""The hag proposed a bunch of anti-werewolf legislation and the old coot actually approved it! So, starting in August, Remus doesn't have access to Healthcare or employment. If he and Sirius stay in their flat, then he'll have a home."
"Is that all?"
"Yes."
"Remus will be just fine, you know. We'll do anything for our Moony. You know why, love?"Ascella nodded. "Its our job. We made a promise all those years ago and its our job to make sure we keep it."
"Exactly. . . So, drink your tea and remove that negativity. Andi and Dora will be here soon and you need all the energy you can possibly have."
"Tell me again why I agreed to babysit while Andromeda and Ted went on a muggle date?"
"You love your sister."
Ascella sighed heavily. "I do, I really do."It wasn't but thirty minutes later that there was a rhythmic knock on the door, it vaguely sounded like a Weird Sisters song.
Ascella sent James to answer the door while she got a moment to breathe properly after the stressful work day she had.
Soon, thundering footsteps came down the hall and in came little Dora Tonks, sporting bubblegum pink hair and a big smile. No matter how much Ascella loved Dora, she knew it was going to be a long night.
She was already tired from work, but a growing metamorphmagus added into the mix was an entirely different and extremely chaotic situation.
Though, Dora matched James's energy perfectly, wreaking havoc wherever they went. Ascella got no rest until Andromeda picked up her daughter the next morning.
