It's Complicated- Chapter Eight

Lily told me she was busy with Riley. I told her I would only be sleeping till the morning then going back to the hospital.

I had to find somewhere else to stay the night. I would give Kieran the night off from my crying episodes and let him stay with his family.

I called Talia to see if she was up for a sleepover.

"Yeah. I'm not busy. I have a date tomorrow but that's about it."

"I'll be gone by then so don't worry. I'll bring some snacks and pyjamas. I just don't want to be alone tonight. Thank you for this." I said.

I went to the closest supermarket by Talia's house and went in.

I went straight to the confectionary isle and got a couple of bags of lollies and chocolates. On my way out I bumped into an old friend from high school.

"Hey Mel. Fancy seeing you here." He stated.

"It is Daniel. I didn't think you of all people would be out so late."

"Yeah well, my mum's pregnant again with baby number five and she wanted me to get her some food. So, here I am." he smiled and I smiled back at him.

I told him about my brother and he sent his condolences. I was saying how I was off to Talia's and how Kieran and I are together after knowing each other our whole lives.

"Does your mum know if she's having a girl or a boy yet?" I questioned.

"Apparently she's having a girl this time, which will be good after the last two were boys. I'm sure she's happy to have new little girl running around and knocking more things over." We both laughed at his remark.

I told him I'd better be going because Talia was waiting for me. I said good bye and he gave me his phone number. Seriously I told him I was with Kieran but he obviously didn't listen to me.

I walked to my car got in and drove to Talia's house. Her family were really nice and comforting at the time in need.

When I got to her house I walked straight in. I was always welcome. I went into their lounge room and greeted Talia's parents and went to her room.

"Hey honey, how's it going? How's my little Cam feeling after day 2?" She asked with a forced smile.

"He said he's feeling better. He had his crutch lessons but he looks a bit uncomfortable with them though. I guess he still has to get used to them." I said with a sigh.

"Yeah he will. Hey just think, in a few weeks he'll have his cast off and walking around again like the little trooper he is."

"I guess so." I said sadly. "I bought some lollies and chocolates. Oh my gosh, you'll never guess who I bumped into on my way out of the supermarket."

She thought for a bit and didn't give me any answers.

"Who?"

"Daniel Anderson." I said. She looked shocked.

Her jaw dropped to her toes. I leant over to her and pushed her jaws together and laughed at her reaction.

"I never told you this, but, I went out with him for a week." This was news for me.

This time my jaw dropped.

I was so shocked. I playfully punched her in the arm and told her how much of an idiot she was for not telling me! I soon got over it and we put on my favourite TV show on that I had brought from home, which was on DVD.

We watched most of that all night until I dozed off and then I had no idea what happened.

In the morning I woke and checked my phone for the time and if I had any messages. The time was so early I would be so tired tonight by the looks of it. I had a message from mum and two from Kieran.

Message from Mum:

Received at 9:44pm

'If you are coming back to the hospital sometime today give me a message or a call. Xxx mummy.'

Messages from Kieran:

Number 1:

Received 10:12pm

'Hey honey hope you had a great night. I'll call you later tomorrow about then. Xo Kierie.'

Number 2:

Received 11:01pm

'Won't be calling cause I'll be to sleepy. Will come by your house at 9. Xo Kierie.'

Talia woke up a few minutes after I finished reading my messages and I told her I had to get ready to go back to my house. I got ready and left. I didn't grab anything to eat but I'm not that hungry either.

I drove home in silence. No music or anything.

By the time I got home it was quarter to 9 so I had to be decently ready for Kieran to drop over. I had a shower and left my room with no make-up and my hair curly from not having enough time to straighten it and not even bothering to try.

He came a few minutes earlier then he said but he looked very dressed up for casual wear.

"I'm here, my lady, to take you to the movies then lunch." He said in a posh British accent while taking my hand and kissing it. He really shouldn't talk in a British accent. It doesn't work for him. Maybe he should just stay the handsome self he is.

"I'd be glad too." I replied in the same accent. We laughed for a while and I took his hand in mine and pulled him inside my house.

We talked for a bit and agreed after lunch we'd see my little brother.

I ran upstairs and grabbed the essentials before I left. As soon as I got down the last step, I grabbed Kieran and gave him a huge hug. I really needed that. I gave him a kiss and we left.
