Ryder is 16 in this story and Katie as well. As for the title thanks for the idea @clayp50 , and here is my ✨head canon✨ Demon boys cannot get girls pregnant, especially demon girls. Same way around, because demon ladies cannot get pregnant at all. It takes a special ritual for the ladies to get pregnant but they rarely ever do that.
