Chapter 21

Lilly had about thirty minutes of training with Ryder left and they used it to practice some more fighting styles with weapons. They were in the middle of a knife fight when Akira showed up. "Times up." She yelled and Lilly stopped fighting. Though she had to keep defending herself, as Ryder was behaving like this was a death battle. Just like earlier today, there was this strange adrenaline rush. It felt like an ancient call, something so natural that Ryder didn't even notice the change in his behavior. "I-I give up." Lilly said and Ryder normalized again. His was barely out of breath thanks to being a hybrid but his blood rushed through his veins with an immense speed, his heart raced with at least the speed of a fast car and his eyes turned from purple with snake pupil back to their usual brown color. "Well then, I will be taking my leave." "Alright. Ryder, we need to talk about your behavior during training." "Did I do something wrong?" "Not exactly, but your behavior did a 180." "It did? How did I not notice?" "I don't know, but you will not be touching weapons again, got it?" "Yes mistress." Akira nodded and proceeded to teach Ryder about magic. He already knew about his senses and the telekinesis but there were so many other aspects. Today she wanted to teach him how to camouflage. Maybe even how to control the elements of nature if he got the camouflage right with ease. Which was the case. "Mistress! Look!" He said and made himself vanish. "Good job Ryder. Here is a little reward." On her hand was a small piece of Ryders favorite chocolate, that disappeared into thin air when Ryder ate it up. "Now make yourself visible again." Once she could see him again, she told Ryder about the elements of nature and their properties. Well until Ryder found out how to manipulate his own feathers. He detached them with his pure mind and was even able to reattach them, he could make them fly around and even change how soft they were. "This is so cool!" Akira sighed but she had a soft smile on her face. "Fine... Play around with your feathers. Remember though: tomorrow you and your puppies will come down here for training." "We will?" "Yes. I will make sure of it." "Thanks mistress! You are the best!" Akira smiled and cleaned up the training area, while Ryder  played with his feathers. About 40 minutes later Akira dragged Ryder to his room through the secret tunnels. With his enhanced sight he could easily see in the dark, so when he heard footsteps, he pulled Akira into a side tunnel and around the corner, covering her mouth with his hand. „Uhm, guys? I am not getting good vibes from these tunnels...." „Oh hush Marshall! It is just tunnels." Ryder enhanced both the sense of touch and hearing. According to the footsteps, there were five puppies. Thanks to his sense of touch he identified them as Marshall, Skye, Chase, Rockey and Sweetie. Oh shit, when Chase finds us... Ryder thought fast and camouflaged himself, Akira caught on and put an invisibility spell above herself. "Hold on..." "What is it Chase?" Chases nose told him that they weren't alone. "I smell two more people..." "Who?" He sniffed along the ground and identified one of the odors. "It smells like Ryder has been here not too long ago... and there is the sent of a female. But it's weaker than his." Sweetie started talking and explained that these tunnels connect every room in the castle with one another, even leading outside if a quick evacuation is needed. "And some say that there is a secret training room underground. Though no one has ever checked if that is true." "And the princess?" "She doesn't believe it. Though if Ryders sent his here, he could have looked for it before we came here." "True..." "Skye?!" "What? It is totally possible, isn't it?" "Ugh... Rockey, Skye! Stop fighting and let's keep going. Maybe we can follow Ryders sent to that training room."   The puppies slowly moved further down the tunnels, giving Ryder and Akira to sneak behind them and walk all the way to Ryders room. As the door to Ryders room opened, the puppies heard that and they sprinted back to where the sound came from. Ryder meanwhile had changed into his pajama and he crawled underneath the blanket. Thanks to one of Akira's spells, he fell asleep right away or so it looked like. "Marshall! What if... wow..." "What is it Rockey?" "Be quiet Skye, that's Ryders room. Someone entered it." Akira watched with amusement how the puppies talked about who it could have been and she decided to create a little illusion. Her spell took the from of a spirit like entity, scaring the puppies back into the tunnels. "L-Let's just forget what we saw..." "Agreed Rockey..."
