The morning after 'Darling Joel' had come to talk to me, I was awoken by a familiar ring tone. 'oooh, Make me come alive come on and turn me on' I groaned and picked up the phone, unlocked it and answered."Yes?" I groaned. "It's, like, two in the morning. What do you want?"
His breath was shaky. I coughed.
"I'm playing the football game of the century tonight." He whispered, as if he'd only realised it.
"Well done, Trev." I rolled my eyes. "You're good. Why does this bother you?" I laughed. Trevor was one of the biggest jocks in the school. He knew how to play almost any sport- even girl ones.
"I... Why me? Jo, what if I screw up?" He sounded scared.
My voice became soothing. I used to do this all the time with Maya when she was little and her parents were going through a divorce.
"Trevor Morgan," I began. "When have you ever screwed anything up? No answer? Exactly. You're always perfect. And, guess what bud, you always will be! Even when we're old and grey and in a retirement home, you'll still have shiny grey hair. And your skin won't be as wrinkly. It'll still be perfect. Don't let your emotions get in control of how you're not going to fail this, man." At the end I was using my normal, Jo voice. Because with Trevor I didn't need to put on a voice to talk to him. I could be perfectly normal with him and he would still feel more confident.
He chuckled. "I know. I just wanted to hear you say it. And, of course, now you're pi**ed, which is extra good!"
I groaned. "You annoy me." I stated, hanging up on him.
I turned away from my phone and way about to fall asleep, picturing me acting on a movie set. On the movie set I'd be working with the best actors and actresses. It would be a serious film and I'd win many, many-
My phone went off again. I picked it up again. It was Trevor. "What do you want NOW?!" I whispered-shouted at him.
"You're still coming to the game, right?" He asked, nervous.
If he was here right now, I would kill him. I don't care if he was my best friend, it's.. .2:05 in the morning and it's going to be a long day today. I would kill him. "Yes. I am coming to your game, Trevor." I gritted my teeth. "Wouldn't miss it."
"Aw!" He sounded smug.
There was an awkward silence.
"Can I hang up now without you calling again?" I asked patiently.
"Wait- what was the science homework?" He teased.
I'd had enough. "Goodnight, Trevor." I turned over and turned off my phone.
I threw on my old green sweater and baggy sweat pants. As you could have guessed, I'm not one for showing off my body and fashion sense. After I grabbed my bag from the chair near my desk, I ran out to the car outside my house. Damn. I forgot breakfast.
He was sitting there, hair perfectly messed with. Just in his eyes. He smiled as I jumped in the car. I couldn't see his eyes as he had dark sunglasses on.
"Sup, grumpy ***" He chuckled.
"You owe me an hour of sleep and breakfast." I messed up his hair. He hates that. He DESERVES that.
"Not the hair. You can mess up my clothes, my timetable, my car, ANYTHING but the hair. Kay?" He pursed his lips. If you took away the sunglasses, made his hair longer and stuck a granny dress on the guy, he might look like a granny.
