"Miss Green!" Mr O' Cleary snapped at me as I took my seat at the back of the small, cramped classroom. "Where have you been?"I fumbled with the sleeve of my jumper, thinking of a better excuse than 'Trying to kick Preston Abraham's manhood'.
"Uh... I.. uh.. Lost my book in my locker." I lied, picking my books out of my bag. "Then I fell. And I hurt my arm. But it's not scarred." I shut myself up before I let my imagination run wild, ending up at 'And then the magical unicorn let me fly back'.
"This is the third time this month, Green." He frowned. "I'm afraid that means detention today after school." Someone threw a ball of paper at his head. "And you too, Shields." He throws the paper back at Mark. My second rejection.
Ah, yay. An afternoon with another guy I rejected years ago. Was it just this time of the month where they all just ganged up on me for no apparent reason? UGH!
Wait- That means I have to cancel my ride with Trevor today. Which means I have to talk to him. Which means people will notice we talk. Which means he'll get teased for talking to me.
OR...
"Mr O' Cleary?" I asked, raising my hand. He'd set us all the task of writing down our list of dream jobs. FUN.
"Miss Green, if you have your wits about you, you will get back to work and stop interrupting me." He raised his eyebrows in a 'That-Means-Sit-Down-And-Shut-Up' way.
"But it's about detention!" I persisted.
"Well then come up to my desk and talk to me about it after class. Right now, get to work." He snapped.
"Thank you." I sighed, writing, scrawled and un tidy, the word 'Actress'. In my head, I laughed. Saying to myself, 'Sure, you'll be an actress. Your grades are amazing enough to be an actress.' I mentally slapped myself. I was a ***** to myself sometimes.
A piece of paper hit me. I picked it up, on the edge it said 'Fuse'. So I get hate mail now. Whooppe.
I opened it up slowly so Mr O' Cleary wouldn't hear the rustle of the paper. In it, written terrible, with many spelling mistakes read-
So, you're trying to get out of detention with me? Really? You think because of all those years ago when you rejected me means you can reject me even in punishment? Because if you don't come today, I WILL make your life a living hell.
#Not that you already don't....#
So stay today, princess. We can have the fun we didn't have in the ninth grade.
Your Secret Admirer
I shivered at the thought of Mark and me in the same room in the afternoon on a mild day having 'fun'. So now I NEED to get out of this. Or I'll have to sit for an hour with the most pitiful of people trying to seduce me.
I looked at the clock at the front of the room.
5...4...3...2...1...
The bell rang and everyone sprung from their seats. I walked slowly to Mr O' Cleary's desk and swallowed.
"Mr O' Cleary?" I asked slowly.
"Yes?" He muttered, writing something down in his notebook.
"About detention... I can't make it today..." I winced at what was about to come.
"Why can you not make it?" He asked , looking up very slowly at me. Like one of those people you get in a horror movie that go 'Let's have some FUN... with this knife and your face...'
