When they woke up, they were locked in cages. The ground was damp and soft, and armed guards stood beyond the cages. The smell was earthy, a rare smell for the island. Sam and Carla were in separate cages. They couldn't speak, couldn't see, and couldn't escape. When the time came for them to be dragged off to see the king, the guards opened the cages. The metal squealed and creaked as the bar door opened. The gruff, furry guards grabbed them by the strap bound around their legs, and dragged them to the King's throne of thorns. The Blueberry Warbears dropped their prisoners, knelt for the King, and left, their feet leaving marks and thudding lightly on the floor.
"Thatha ezizibeni yabo off." The Forbidden King's voice was low and soft. Sirens approached and pulled the bindings from their muzzles and eyes.
"Ngiyabonga. Shiya."The sirens bowed low and left. The King spoke again, this time to Sam and Carla. Sam looked up to him boldly, and arla looked at him in fear.
"Do you know why you are here?" He said.\
"N-No, sir."
"My spies reported you to me and said you were looking for the gem. Is that true?"
"No, s-sir. We were just going on a-"
"You will wait your turn." The King held up his hand. Sam stood quietly.
"Why are you here if you aren't aimed at taking back the lifeblood of the island?"
"My friend and I were going on an adventure. We didn't mean any harm, s-sir." Sam stuttered.
The Bears at the back of the room grew restless and growled. The king held up his hand, and said, "Bahlanganiswe amanga." Then, the bears stood still and did not move or growl. The King clapped and two snakes slithered in. They bowed.
"Thank you, Sam and Carla. You are free to go. Ukubakhulula."The snakes fed the group until they fell asleep, and when they woke up, Sam was in his home, in his bed, and Carla was in her lake."It was just a dream." Or so they thought.
THE END.
