Chapter 1

My life in Berk has been adventurous the moment when I shot down a Night Fury, it was pitch black with bright red eyes.

Atsushi thought I was insane for not killing it, everyone did but I just couldn't find it in me, but the moment Dazai finally accepted that we shouldn't kill dragons anymore, Atsushi wasn't sure on what to think anymore and just went with it when Odasaku comforted him. I was a bit annoyed for him not hearing me out at first but I guess I couldn't complain, if I saw Atsushi with a dragon I would kill it immediately, probably him as well, but Dazai wouldn't be happy about it.

I was truly happy that I could finally obtain Dazai's approval and that I was finally helpful to the village and not be such a burden to them.

I was sitting on the small mountain with Rashomon running around me while I fixed my map and added the new islands I saw all around me. He stared at me with his big eyes looking at me leg. I knew what he wanted, I just sighed and took of my metal leg and threw it off the cliff, Rashomon immediately jumped after it. Before I could take out the last paper I needed, I heard Atsushi calling my name behind me.

"Akutagawa!"

I stayed quiet and let him sit near me after he got of 'Byakko' it was an odd name for a dragon in my opinion, but he says he likes it, and I can't really make him change it so I just got used to it.

"Is this where you go to help Dazai with the map?" Atsushi asked looking on ground where the map was.

I just nodded and drew the last island I was able to see as Atsushi braided his hair staring of into the abyss of the dog around us.

I felt Atsushi stare at me and couldn't help but feel annoyed.

"What do you want?" I said irritated.

"Oh, umm...can I braid your hair?" He mumbled.

I stared at him dumbfounded, my hair was a bit long but HE wanted to braid MY hair.

"Don't think to much about it, I'm just bored!" He yelled.

I just sighed but agreed. He moved to sit behind me while I stared at the fog surrounding the mountain a bit distracted with what Dazai told me.

"He told you about it again didn't he?" I suddenly heard him say.

"What"

"Dazai, he told you about being chief, right?"

I couldn't disagree but I was a bit mad that out of everyone I told Atsushi, the one that I despised the most out of the whole village.

"Yea, but for some reason I can't accept it.."

"Yeah, out of everyone, I thought you would be the most happy that Dazai chose you out of everyone."

I know that better than anyone, and I was happy, but I know that I'm not worthy enough for the title. I want to be chief when I can prove myself to Dazai.

"I know"

"What?"

"What"

"What do you mean I know?"

"About what you just said"

"I didn't say any- did I say that aloud?" I couldn't help but panic about what I just blurted out to Atsushi.

"Yea- Oh, Oh. I promise I didn't hear anything else!"

"That's not the point!"

"But I-"

I looked away ashamed that I let him hear me say something so embarrassing. But when I looked up I saw a sharp blue spike from the outskirts of the the fog. I grabbed Atsushi by the chin and pulled it to face forward.

"What are y- What is that!"

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out."

"But-"

Before he could even start his sentence, I called for Rashomon while jumping of the mountain right on time for me to get on top of Rashomon.

"OH COME ON!" I heard Atsushi yell.

I ignored him and kept moving forward.
