CHAPTER ONE. narrative.

DANIEL AND CAIA had been best friends for about four years. The two met at a party of a mutual friend that they shared, Corey La Barrie.
Caia had just moved to LA for a TV show she was on and was new to the Los Angeles lifestyle, and Corey was the first person she had met that was actually genuine.
To say Caia didn't have many friends other than Corey, her sister, and the few of her cast mates on her Nickelodeon show, Knight Squad, was an understatement.
So, when Corey asked her to come over to his house to meet a few of his friends, she jumped for joy. She literally jumped for joy and made her sister go along with her.
That night was probably the best and worst night of her life. The best because she had met her two new best friends, Daniel (who she clicked with instantly) and a girl named Phoenix Hsu. Phoenix was probably the total opposite of Caia, but that's what they loved about each other.
Now the reason it was the worst night?
Because that was the night she met her future boyfriend, Zeke Powers.
You would think that would be a good thing, right? Well, you're wrong.
Zeke was the most controlling guy you'd ever meet, while Caia was the most stubborn girl you'd ever meet. The pair hit it off that night, and proceeded to talk/date for two months before making it official.
They then proceeded to break up on and off for the entire duration of their relationship, making it as toxic as ever. But for some reason they could not let each other go.
No matter how many times their friends around them said they should... they just couldn't do it.
Even though, she was in a toxic relationship, Caia didn't let it stop her from experiencing the happier things in life. Such as, spending all her time in the world with her friends and family.
When Caia became friends with Daniel, she immediately became Why Don't We's biggest fan.
Anytime there was a concert, Caia was there. A song and/or album was released, Caia was there at the launch party. Once a song was finished, Caia was the first to hear it.
Even down to a post on their instagram accounts, Caia was the first to like, comment, and repost.
All of the boys really loved Caia, especially Daniel. He was truly the closest to her and loved her support and company. They pair also grew even closer on May 10th, 2020. The day they had lost Corey to a fateful car accident.
They both really helped each other get through the grieving process, and never left each other's sides. Wherever Daniel was, you knew Caia couldn't be too far away, and vice versa.
Over time, Daniel even developed a little crush on Caia, but immediately pushed those feelings away because he knew she was in a relationship (no matter how toxic) and he didn't want to ruin their friendship.
So, he just let himself sit in the friend zone and he was okay with it.
