Jack
Jack was in his room with Fred. "Why can't you go for girls who don't have boys built like brick walls by their side?" Daisy asked putting ice on Jacks forehead. She touched a sore spot and Jack jerked back. "Sorry, did that hurt? I'm sorry, I'm such a nuisance." Daisy said on the verge of tears. She did this every time she made a mistake. Hormones."No Daisy, it's fine, I'm fine." Jack said brushing some dirt off his arm. Jacks phone dinged and he found is feet jumping up, pulling the rest of his body with it. He saw the hearts around the contact name and for a moment thought it was Akilah. Let me in ####. That was not from Akilah.
"Jack someone's here for you!" Fred called from the kitchen. Daisy got up and went to greet her soon-to-be fiancé. Jack went to greet his soon-to-be pain-in-the-butt.
"Hello Addy." But before Jack could say anything else, Addy had pressed her mouth against his. He tried to pull away but Addy was persistent, and Fred had shut the door.
Akilah
Akilah was on her way up to Jacks new apartment to talk about yesterday. Mathew had convinced her that, while her other ex boyfriends had fought for them, Jack was fighting for (and shielding) Akilah. He had made sure that Mathews punches didn't get near Akilah and even took a hit for her. As she reached the top stair, she saw a sight that made her stomach drop back down the flight of stairs. Jack was pinned against his door, making out with a girl. 'We aren't dating.' She told herself, but if they weren't dating then why did it hurt? "Jack?" She said before she could stop herself. Akilah turned and ran."Akilah?" She heard Jack call. "Akilah! Wait!" He cried. His words rang through the badly built building. Every call he made was like a knife to Akilahs heart. She was in the elevator when, just as the doors were closing, Jack ran in. He grabbed Akilahs hand. She pulled it away.
"Akilah, darling, it's not what it looks like!" Jack protested trying to pull her close.
"It looks like you were kissing a girl, but it doesn't matter. We are not dating." Akilah said making eye contact. His green eyes. How she'd missed those eyes. Every time she saw them she fell more in love.
"No! I wasn't! Well I was, but I don't like her! You trust me right?" Jacks eyes were filled with tears that gleamed in the light. One broke for freedom.
"I don't know Jack. Why are you crying?"
"I have wanted to see that face looking at me for three months." Jack said, letting two more tears run. He pulled Akilah into a hug. She yanked away. The doors opened and Akilah bolted away... straight into Elijah.
"What are you doing with that waste of space? Alone." Elijah said gesturing to Jack. Acted as if he'd been shot by putting his hand over his heart and gasping.
"No! The insult! Too mature!" Jack said clutching the side of the elevator. He laughed, stuck his hands in his pockets and joined Akilahs side. Akilah hated her mind for finding Jack funny. "Obviously she was just with the better boy. Who are you?"
"I happen to be her boyfriend." Elijah said, jerking Akilah in front of him. Akilah rubbed her now bruised arm. This didn't go unnoticed by Jack.
"Well can you be gentle with her, even I treated her like a princess and not a doll." Jack said defensively.
"Well tell that to her broken heart." Elijah said dragging Akilah away.
Jack
Watched as Elijah dragged the love of his life away, roughly. Too rough for Jacks liking. Those words, "boyfriend" it was like a knife to his stomach. Jack felt like he was eating glass. He stormed back to his room. Addy wasn't there, but she left a note.Don't ignore my text message again.
The one from two months ago? That was the night Jack fell out of love. Then back in love. God he missed Akilah. She loved him most.
