Chapter 10 - Blooming Flower

"Hey, sis, could you hand me a glass of water?" Zan Partizanne said as she cut a leaf from the tiny Dreamstalk. Over the last five days, the lightning mage read books about gardening, she didn't want to disappoint her friend. Flamberge warned her about his tragic life, an information that made her heart ache. She could not believe that the bowl cut had problems.

The girl also tried looking for a job, but everyone was spiteful. Due to her reputation as the town's burden, they refused to believe that she had changed. However, she didn't let that affect her, she had other things to worry about; the first of them was taking care of this flower, but that wasn't as easy as she thought it would be.

"Here it is." Francisca said as she gave her the glass. "You're taking this way too seriously. I still don't know how he fixed you, that makes me jealous. I wish I had a thoughtful boyfriend." She pouted and put her hands on her hip, making Zan groan.

These days, her two sisters have been teasing her nonstop. Every time she mentioned him or the flower, they would laugh and ruffle her hair. She has heard things like: 'Awwwww, she has an admirer!' and 'I'm so proud, my sister is growing up'. She is the older one! 

"Franny, we've talked about this, you promised you would stop teasing me. And for the love of Void, HE'S JUST A FRIEND!" Francisca only laughed and left her alone. "Phew, I thought she wouldn't stop." She went back to what she was doing. 

Just as she thought her day couldn't get more annoying, a sudden noise almost made her drop the water. "Zan! I have something for you!" Flamberge shouted from the house's entrance, closing the door as she did that. Sighing, she gave the plant its needs and went to find the middle sister.

After she saw the blonde girl, Flamberge shook a letter in front of her sister. "What's that?" Zan pointed to it. "It's a letter, what else would it be?" She playfully tilted her head to the side and winked. The oldest sister made an annoyed expression, which made Flamberge start explaining.

"Okay, I was walking around the town and saw King Dedede with his friends, even Hyness was there! I greeted them all and asked what they were doing. They were planning a solution to Hyness' vision, the one I told you, remember? But when I left, Dedede stopped me and said: 'I have something for your sister'." She tried her best to copy his voice. "And that was it!"

Zan raised her eyebrows and opened the letter. "What could he possibly have for me?" She thought and read it, but there wasn't anything but a random number and a poorly drawn Dreamstalk. "A number, huh!" She shrugged and put the letter on the desk.

Francisca politely interrupted the moment and read the letter. "Wait a sec, there's something written in here! It's the spider's number..." She smirked after reading the last part. "It seems someone wants to talk to you..." She laughed after seeing Zan's shocked reaction. "Give me this! It's a letter for me, not you!" She tried to grab it, but her youngest sister kept teasing her.

"ENOUGH!" Zan shouted, which stopped her both sisters.

In a quick action, the blonde girl pushed them out of the house. "Wait sis! We were just messing with you!" Flamberge tried to argue, but it was to no avail. "I went through a hard time and he just helped me! I'm still getting better, but you two keep making it worse! I don't want love in my life! Can't I be happy by myself?!" Zan had tears forming in her eyes.

"Listen, Zan, we're sorry, we didn't mean it." Francisca apologized, but her former leader didn't want excuses. "Don't, please don't. I want to be alone. And that's mine!" She snatched the letter from her sister. "Come back when you're truly sorry." Zan said as she locked the door.

Flamberge told her younger sister to follow her, they felt horrible about that. Francisca thought it was all her fault, after all, she was the one that started with the teasing. Ah, if only words could fix people, everything would be way easier...
