Chapter 13 - Shattered

"I won't let this night end in disaster!" King Dedede hit his counterpart in the face, causing him to fall to the side. At the same time, Dark Meta Knight sent a barrage of attacks, which were all dodged by Taranza, even if he couldn't get the courage to strike back.

Shadow Dedede charged his axe and jumped to hit the two with a big explosion, the penguin dodged by rolling to the side, but Taranza got hit and was tossed in the opposite direction. Dedede then threw his hammer in his doppelganger's direction, hitting him right in the face.

Seizing the opportunity, the knight summoned his giant swords to trap the spider in a mirror cage. Taranza tried his best, but his memories made it impossible for him. "What's the matter, Taranza? Thinking about your old friend?" Dark Meta raised his sword to make the cage smaller until Taranza couldn't move.

The king of Dreamland saw the situation and ran to help his friend, but he fell to the ground when Shadow Dedede pulled his leg. The dark penguin was kicked on his chest and lost his hold on his normal counterpart, an action that made him furious.

Before Dark Meta Knight could leave with the cage, he got hit by Dedede's mighty hammer, which caused the cage to disappear. "You're not taking him!" The king swung his weapon at the knight, but he blocked the attack using his sword.

Getting impatient, Shadow Dedede levitated and opened his belly. He then fired multiple shots, which forced the two kings to hide behind the fallen wardrobe. While they did that, Dark Meta Knight created a big tornado that pulled them towards him.

Taranza and Dedede held the wardrobe to avoid getting pulled, but the penguin thought of something that could be useful. "Remember that time you controlled me?"

That earned a surprised look from the spider. "Now you're talking about that?!" Taranza shouted and lost grip, fortunately for him, Dedede caught him before the spider could get pulled. "Let's do that combo move, it will obliterate them!" Dedede nodded and smirked.

The arachnid sighed in response, giving a sad look to his friend. "I can't... He is the reason I lost her... My heart won't let me use magic." This time it was the penguin's time to sigh.

"So we've already lost..."

Outside the castle, Zan took deep breaths to calm herself. She held her anger for too long, only one more thing and she'll explode, so the girl decided it was time to leave. "It's been weeks since my last fit of rage. Knowing that I have a short temper, I might shout at the next thing."

The blonde mage looked at the sky and sighed. "I almost messed up there, the only option I had was to leave before I hurt him. Argh! Why are you invading my thoughts, bowl cut? Did you put some kind of spell on me?" She threw her hands in the air and groaned.

As Zan was about to leave, she heard a loud noise coming from the castle, which caused her to gasp. "My sisters! I need to do something!"

The lightning mage grabbed her weapon and rushed back to the party, she just hoped she wouldn't be late.

Back to the fight, the two kings were cornered by the shadow beings. Dedede had lost his weapon in the tornado and Taranza just closed his eyes. "My friend, before we die, I want you to know that I'm glad I met you." The penguin said as he prepared himself for his fate.

When Dark Meta Knight raised his sword and charged in their direction, two figures entered the room by shattering the window. They were Hyness and Meta Knight, the latter having multiple wounds from his last fight. "I have warned you it was a bad idea!" The knight said while he fought his counterpart.
