it had been a few days since school started, and it was a Friday now, which amara loved so much because it meant practicing archery in the woods.

she liked bows and crossbows so much, she thought it was nice, a nice way to release your anger.

so as amara walked in the forest, she was about to set down her bows when she noticed something on the ground not far away, as the girl walked towards it cautious, with her bow raised she realised it was a boy laying on the grass, he was knocked out maybe.

as amara put away her bow and everything she had she started shaking the boy who quickly opened his eyes. "are you okay?" amara asked softly making the boy snap his head towards her.

"oh am I still dreaming?" the boy mumbled to himself making the girl raise her eyebrows at him.

"hello there! are you okay? what happened to you?" amara asked again, this time less nicely.

"yea I am okay" the boy told her making the girl let out a breath she didn't know she was holding

"what happened to you?" Amara asked the boy who could only shrug his shoulders

"i must have sleep walked" the boy said, making her raise her eyebrows, it was only then that he realized what stupid mistake he did.

"well do you need anything?" Amara asked, her resting bitch face back again.

"uh oh no" the boy said awkwardly then he stood up and gave her small smile.

"i am eli" the boy whose name eli introduced himself making her look at him silently for a moment.

"my name is-" Amara was about to introduce herself when eli cut her off.

"i know who you are" eli said way too quickly before thinking his words, and Amara raised her eyebrows at him.

upon noticing it, he quickly coughed, “not in a stalking way of course, it's just your friend is my friend and—” Eli was about to reason himself to not seem a stalker when amara turned around and shrugged her shoulders.

“okay” amara said while picking up her bow and arrows, making eli slightly terrified.

“hey what's that?” eli asked her awkwardly

“arrows? yea and a bow” amara said it as a question at first, give him a look that screams are you stupid?

but before eli could say anything, amara turned to him suspiciously “who is the friend?” amara asked making eli look at her confused

“oh aria, she is a family friend” eli explained making amara nod.

“you wanna try?” amara asked suddenly making the boy look at her confused.

“i never really used a bow” eli declined her offer, not wanting to embarrass himself in front of her.

“okay” amara replied, while shotting an arrow, that landed perfectly on the tree

eli stood there watching her with a dumb look on his face, but he couldn't help but start to think if she was a hunter, did she even know anything about this world? his world.

if I was in eliʼs place I would definitely be terrified like imagine your childhood crush turns out to be the thing that hates you the most. that is taught how to kill people from your kind.

as eli entered his house, derek sighed noticing his son was safe. but once he concentrated, he could tell something was wrong.

“what is it? what is bothering you?” derek asked him, being used to him sleepwalking in the woods.

“the Washingtons” eli whispered quietly

he could tell derek became so tense when he mentioned the familyʼs last name.

“what about them?” derek asked making eli look up at him

“are they hunters?” eli asked, carefully, making his dad raise his eyebrows at him.

“no why would you think that?” derek asked, making eli look up at him.

“she had arrows, she could use the bow perfectly” eli mumbled making derek look at him confused

“who is she eli?” derek asked his son who could only stare at him silently

“amara, amara washington” eli said making derek smirk at him.

“oh you mean the one you've been —” as derek went to annoy his son, he suddenly stopped talking.

“did you say Washington?” derek asked while eli nodded.

and that was the end of their conversation, Derek left eli confused.

it was crystal clear derek had secrets from eli, which made him get angry alot. I mean sure derek did tell him stories, alot at that but he always kept something to himself.

but it was always either to protect Eli, or to avoid his own demons.

and this time, he was definitely avoiding his own demons.

as derek and Eli were talking, the so called washington had gotten herself in trouble again.
