"Um," Makima sat across from him staring into his eyes. She could tell he was yearning for an answer. Any sign of her decision. It was her choice. The redhead twiddled her thumbs a bit as she tried to speak. "I-," but the words wouldn't come out. For once she wasn't the one being forward, she wasn't the one in CONTROL. "P-please, answer," Denji said as tears began to form on the side of his face.
Makima watched the desperation begin to form on the blonde's face. This was it; she couldn't take it anymore and she finally answered. "Yes," she spoke. Almost faster than she wanted to but what was the harm. What she had done with Denji these past weeks, surely it was better than anything else she had done.
With hearing her reply to Denji immediately jumped up from his seat and hugged Makima. His teary embrace causing the redhead to blush a bit. Something she had never done before. All these new feelings, but they didn't seem bad. Maybe this was what she needed all along, something to fill that void within her.
No more following pointless orders, killing people without reason. It was now something she could never think to do again. Denji continued to hug her. "Thank you, Makima," he whimpered as he pushed his face into her shoulder. When he finally looked up at Makima, Denji noticed she had begun to cry. Once again, the began to hug, and they didn't stop throughout the night.
As they both drifted into sleep on the grey couch, now stained with the tear of the day, Denji whispered. "I love you, Makima," he smiled as he softly kissed her cheek. Makima gently began to stoke his hair. Nuzzling his chest she whispered back, "Love you too."
