I'm so sorry for starting angst this early, but what's a story without a little.. angst? :)
NOBODYS POV:
Xiao looked to the ground
"Nevermind. Sorry for making you stop."
Aether feels as if Xiao actually wanted to say something but won't pressure him about it
"No no, that's fine Xiao."
"Let's go catch up with Paimon."
"Yeah."
They both walk off, eventually finding Paimon
"Liuli Pavilion again Paimon?"
"Paimons sorry! Paimon just really really reallyyy loves this area!"
"That's okay." - Aether smiled, gently patting Paimons head
Paimon giggled, before ZOOMING inside
"Haha, alright let's go."
Aether started walking, but then stopped and turned to look at Xiao, who seemed genuinely disturbed.
"Xiao? What's on your mind. Why is it that you're so quiet?"
Xiao immediately looked up, almost as if he was startled
"A-Ah, Nothing is on my mind, Traveler, let us go inside."
Xiao walks past Aether, going inside Liuli Pavilion
Aether seems a bit upset
What's bothering you so much, Xiao?..
Aether shook his head a bit, walking inside
Everyone took a seat, but it was quieter than usual
Paimon noticed this
"Heeey! Why does it seem so gloomy in here!! It wasn't so quiet a bit ago!!"
Xiao didn't seem to respond, nor care about Paimon yelling, odd. He usually does.
"Sorry Paimon, I think something might be bothering Xiao."
Xiao looked up, that seemed to snap him out of his thoughts
"What? No. I'm fine."
"Ya sureee? Travelers right, something seems to be bothering you."
"I'm FINE."
Paimon flinched at the sudden aggression in Xiaos tone
"Uhhh, well okay! If you say so!"
Paimon continued to wait for the food quietly
"Xiao? What was with that sudden outlash?"
"Nothing."
Aether looked at Xiao, but then sighed, being quiet now
The food came and both Paimon and Aether ate, Xiao didn't seem to have an appetite
After they finished eating...
"HWHDHAHFHDH PAIMONS SO FULL AHHHH"
Aether laughed a little, but then noticed Xiao again, and couldn't help but feel a bit sad
Aether whispered to Paimon
"I'm gonna bring Xiao outside and talk to him, you stay in here for now."
Paimon seemed hesitant, but nodded
Aether got up, he walked over to Xiao, and grabbed his hand, pulling him up
"What are you doing, Traveler?"
Aether didn't say anything and just walked outside
"Okay, Xiao, what is bothering you?"
"Nothing."
"Stop saying nothing, there is something bothering you and I can TELL."
Xiao looks at Aether, silent for a moment
"I don't have a good feeling."
"What do you mean?"
"..I don't know, just. Stay by me. Please."
Aether seemed confused
"Why do I need to—"
"Just do it! Okay?!-"
Aether went silent but then nodded
"I'm sorry. I just- I just.."
Xiao facepalmed
"I just want you to be safe."
"Uh.. okay."
Aether smiled a bit
Xiao blushed a bit, at Aethers smile
"Let me go get Paimon."
"Alright."
Aether walked inside
Xiao looks off into the horizon, lost in thought, wondering why he's so nervous.
Aether walks out with Paimon
"Alright! Let's go."
Xiao nodded, and he and Aether begin walking towards the bridge, Paimon follows, just talking on and on about stuff
"We get it Paimon, you love the food at Liuli Pavilion, now shut the hell up." Xiao looks back at Paimon
"Hey!! Don't tell Paimon to shut up! Paimon will talk however long she wants!"
Xiao rolled his eyes, looking back at where he was going
"XIAO!"
Xiao looked back at Paimon
"Wh— where's Traveller."
"PAIMON DOESN'T KNOW!! HE WAS HERE A SECOND AGO!!" - Paimon is basically freaking out
Shit.
"HOW ARE WE GONNA FIND HIM?!? WAAHHHHH"
"..We'll find him, Paimon, chill out."
Aether's POV:
I woke up with a ringing in my ears, my vision wasn't completely back but I could sort of see the place. Where am I? This isn't Liyue.
"You're awake."
I recognized the voice almost immediately, despite not being able to see, I knew who it was.
"..Lumine?"
hahahahh cliffhanger
sorry this chapter is short, I just got the motivation back to finish it, plus I'm really tired
