The light of dawn poked out through the dark curtains and shone dull rays on the floor. Senna got to his feet within his box and proceeded to give himself a morning grooming session.

Jamie sleepily swung her covers off and sat upon the edge of her bed, having gotten little rest since waking up, as usual. From the corner of her eyes, she could tell her body wasn't glowing anymore; her skin was plainly visible. She wouldn't look directly at her skin, fearing Trudy had failed; fearing burn scars remained.

If I'm really burnt and scarred now, that's it. Meredith will never ever look twice at me, nor will anyone else. They'll avoid, pity and despise me.

Jamie stood from the bed, feeling no pain but her heart hammered with near as much terror as it had being inside a burning building. Summoning all her resolve, she slowly made her way to the mirror.

Senna paused in the middle of grooming to stare at Jamie. The Sphynx gave her a strange wary gaze; almost like he no longer recognised her. Jamie felt a horrendous chill, more petrified than ever, but carefully stepped around him and stood before the mirror with closed eyes.

Her heart pounding like a hammer slamming against an anvil, Jamie took deep breaths before slowly opening her eyes in dread. When they cleared she beheld herself in full. Her eyes bulged wide, her jaw hit the floor and her brain suffered an implosion of shock.

The skin over her entire body was beyond perfect. Although as chalk-pale as ever it was stunningly sleek with no blemishes, spots, marks or imperfections, like staring at a porcelain doll made to be as immaculate as possible. Jamie pinched her cheek, feeling an ache. Having confirmed she was awake, she ran her hands across her body.

She was flabbergasted by how soft, smooth and silky her skin felt in each inch of every area. The pale complexion of her face was flawless and breathtakingly beautiful. It felt as if she'd reborn anew, just like how a phoenix would rise from fire.

Holy shit...this is...ME? No fucking way. Trudy, if you can still hear me in your sleep, I just want to say you've really outdone yourself, I mean WOW. And thanks. Thanks so much.

Feeling enormously relieved and delighted, Jamie did a twirl on the spot whilst looking at the mirror; there was not a trace of any burn left.

It dawned on her that not only had Trudy intended to remove the burns and scars. It'd also wanted to help her appear as attractive as possible to impress Meredith.

Senna was sniffing around her bare legs, as if trying to confirm her identity to himself. Apparently satisfied, he gave her feet some affectionate licks. Jamie crouched and stroked his back.

"Hey, little buddy. Guess what?" Jamie lowered her voice to a soft whisper so her uncle couldn't overhear, "I love Meredith. I LOVE her. I'm totally as bloody gay for her as they come. I want to dance with her again. I want to hold her. I want to kiss her. I want to...well, I'll keep that one to myself. I want to be there for her, always. More than anything, I want to her to be cool with me loving her. What'd you think? Should I tell her all that? Today?"

Senna looked up at Jamie and left out a soft meow. She gave him a light kiss on the head and stood, getting dressed, "Yeah, why not? Not like it'll be scarier than repeatedly rushing into a burning building. Pretty damn close though. But what's the worst that'll happen? Will she set me on fire? Been there, done that, got the shiny new body. Come to think, you haven't met her yet, have you? You'd love her too, I know. Right, shall we have breakfast?"

Senna eagerly dashed to the door and pawed at it. Having slipped a shirt and shorts on, Jamie opened it and followed her cat into the main room.
