After having another restless night I awake to my maids opening the curtains, ripping off my bed sheets and literally pulling me out of bed. They add a bit of mousse and salt spray to my already wavy hair to make it look more beachy and less like a tangled mess, but other than that leave it untouched. Knowing that I won't allow them to put a lot of makeup on my face they only apply bit of foundation, some bronzer and mascara to my very stubborn eyelashes. seeing as today is the day we're finding out who else is being eliminated, and then having a fancy breakfast to celebrate with those of us who remain, I was told to dress "fancy". My maids decide to dress me in a light pink gown that is strapless and falls to ground. I'm just happy this gown don't have any slits in it. After giving myself one quick look in the mirror I thank my maids and head into the ladies room. The moment I enter the room all the girls stare daggers at me, and I guess I should have seen this coming. Last night the only two people who weren't in the Royal safe room with all the Royals and the selected were me and Damon, and seeing as guards and maids love to gossip, word spread about our little hide out in the maid's quarters. I scan the room and see the only chair left in the room is seated in far corner next to a smug looking Serena who knows she has me cornered. literally.
I walk over to the seat and sit down, pretending to fix my dress. Serena leans forward onto the table infront of us giving me a quick look up and down before laughing to herself and rolling her eyes.
"Do you have a problem or something?" I say only loud enough for her to hear while matching her actions, leaning on the table.
"Hm?" she replies while raising an eyebrow. "Oh me? aha no nothing it's just.." she leans back in her chair raising her voice slightly for everyone to hear, "I just find it interesting how everyone seemed to make it to the Royal safe house but you and the prince." By now the whole room was dead silent. "And come on. You don't honestly expect me or any of us to believe that you two spent an entire day together and nothing went on between you two?"
"I don't really care if you believe it or not but nothing happened. Unlike some people" I say looking her up and down, "I don't throw myself at every guy who shows me the slightest bit of affection." In my head I give myself a small pat on the back and sink back into my chair. I look over at Marissa who smiles at me trying her hardest not to laugh and I return the smile. Right when Serena is about to snap at me Rachel makes her way into the ladies room followed by two guards and the Prince. Serena covers her tracks by simply flipping her long golden over her shoulder and glaring at me with her light green eyes while pretending to fix her dress.
"Now ladies due to yesterdays... disturbance" Rachel begins, "we obviously had to put the first cut on hold. Now to make this go by a little faster I would ask that everyone who's name was called yesterday could stand up over here on my right until Damon finishes calling the other selected."
I watch as Serena glances at me, making sure she has my full attention before walking to Rachel's right side swinging her hips side to side. I was as Damon stares at her before I roll my eyes and place my head in my hands bored out of my mind.
"Now, also staying with us," Damon begins reading off a list, "we have Rebecca, Caroline, Elizabeth, Emily, and last but not least, Hadley. For those of you whose names were not called I am very sorry but you will no longer be staying with us. I am so happy to have had the pleasure of meeting you."
Throughout Damon's entire speech I could only think of one thing. My name wasn't called. MY NAME WASN'T CALLED! I'm free to leave, I can go back home to my family, to Anna and finally put this awful nightmare behind me! With a clear smile on my face I quickly stand up and begin walking, no more like running to the door. I can see the smile growing on Serena's face but I don't care, if anything it makes me even happier because it's a smile I'll never have to see again! Right when I'm about to get out the door a hand grabs my wrist and pulls me back. When I turn around I'm face to face with Damon.
"Where exactly do you think you're going lady....?" He asks, pretending to forget my name. I glare at him.
"Lady Carter, and to my room? My name wasn't called! I'm done!" I reply smiling.
"Wait a second. You actually don't want to be here?"
"What was your first clue?"
"So you're telling me there's nothing you'd want more than to leave this place and never see my face again?" He asks.
"Right." I reply.
"Then you're staying."
"WHAT?! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOU EXCUSED ME! I'VE BEEN PARDONED!"
"Well then consider me unpardoning you" He says while smirking at me.
"You hate me! Why do you even want me around?!
"Because there's nothing I love more than watching you squirm" He says with a smug look on his face. "Now," He links his arm in mine, "Lets get going. Wouldn't want to miss breakfast" he says while pulling me along behind him.
