I walk as quickly as I can on the pathway that was laid out for us selected, while trying to draw as little attention to me as possible. It works, probably because everyone is staring at that one girl's giant ball gown that probably costs more than my house.

As soon as me and the five girls I travelled with enter the palace, the doors close and lock, keeping the public out and me in. I look around to see everyone sitting and find an empty seat in the back corner of the room. Everyone in the room is completely silent, that is until we hear the clicking of heals and see a tall, brown haired women walk into the room.

As if at once everyone sits up a little taller, crosses their legs and folds their hands together. Everyone looks so stiff and robotic but one glare from the women tells me that I need to adjust my position before she begins speaking, so I do. Once my legs are crossed and hands folded the women begins her little speech.

"Hello, my name is Rachel and I will be your supervisor during your time here at the palace. I am looking forward to meeting you all and being a helping hand to you while your here. Just a few simple rules. First, any means of sabotage or causing personal harm to any of the other selected will result in you being kicked out of the selection, is that clear?" Rachel asks. Everyone shakes their head vigorously.

"Good", She continues. "Secondly, you may not leave the selection. Only Prince Damon can formally dismiss you himself. Third, you may not go on the third floor for that is where the Royal family sleeps and any sort of disruption will not be tolerated. You also may not go outside under any circumstances. There are certain times when you may go out to the garden, but that's it. That last rule is strictly for your own safety. Those are all the rules you need to know for now but I'll show you each to your rooms before heading off. You will all be eating dinner in your rooms tonight but will be having breakfast tomorrow morning in the Great Room with all the Royals, followed by one on one interviews with Prince Damon. Now if you will all follow me."

I'm starting to wonder if they forgot to get me a room or something for I'm the only one Rachel hasn't assigned one to yet. We turn down one last hallway and I decide to ask her where my room is when she stops at a door with my name on it.

"Here you are Lady Carter" she says while opening the door for me. Before entering I look down my hallway to find a set of stairs that leads to the third floor. Great. This means that if, or should I say when, I do something stupid the Royals will be the first to know about it.

As soon as I step into my room I'm greeted by 3 maids who curtsy before me. The tallest one of the three steps a little closer to me and says, "Lady Carter, this is Isabelle, Marly, and I'm Rayna. We will be your maids create your dresses, and do your hair and make up each morning. If there's anything you need at all just let us know."

"Thank you, but the only thing I need from you right now is for you to stop curtsying for me", I reply.

"But we must curtsy, it's part of our jobs", the smallest girl, Isabelle says.

"Well when you're around me you don't have to worry about it. I don't wanna over work you three. Why don't you three go get some rest, I'm not hungry or anything so I'll probably just go to bed now".

All three of them looked shocked but didn't object. My guess is they haven't gotten a break in long time. This time instead of curtsying the three of them just gave me a small nod and hurried out the door. I then quickly took off my jeans and cardigan, and replaced my t-shirt with a very baggy one I packed myself, jumped into bed tried to process everything that happened today.
