the sun glistens through the leaves above the boys who had found a chilling spot on one of the thick branches amongst the ginormous family of trees.

"i still can't believe lo'ak puked all over rotxo" tahix's laugh echos deep in the forest as tears of joy escape his eyes and a hand on his stomach.

neteyam and tahix had been getting to know each other and chatting about anything that deemed entertaining. neteyam couldn't lie, to his surprise, he actually enjoys the company of the boy.

even though they had become fond of each other and their laughter filled conversations that had been going on for a few hours now, it swiftly transitioned to a very down to earth deep talk.

"say, do you have a mate yet, tahix?" neteyam leans his entire back and head against the tree, dazing upwards.

tahix could feel his heart drop down to his feet at the unforeseen question.
"..not yet" he murmurs, pulling on the leaves beside him and mindlessly picking at it.

"..yet?" neteyam pulls his head towards him whilst tilting his head.
silence then collide with the forest noises, both of them didn't know what to say.
"yeah. do you?" tahix counterattacks neteyam back with a question, looking at the stunned boy.

"..not yet either.. it's complicated?"
neteyam wasn't sure if tahix was the right person to know his sexual orientation, despite how much fun they were previously having.

they both exchange raised brow looks as if they were telepathically having a conversation.
however, neteyam knew that look of realisation.
"you too..?" he grins, shoving tahix's shoulder playfully.

tahix nervously nods, smiling with his eyes averted back to the leaf in his hand.
"who is it?" neteyam giggles while not leaving his eyes from tahix.

"you probably don't know him but he's one of the hunters" his eyes now connecting with neteyam's who had a loving expression.

"eywa, he's such a hunk" tahix groans, covering his face with his palms to try and cover the upcoming blood rush.
"oh! is he the one with the half up hair with the bun? a bit taller than us and with the wide shoulders?" neteyam places the back of his hand on tahix's shoulder who silently nods, exhaling.

"his names atula.."

neteyam laughs at the boy's cute reaction, completely familiar to what he's currently feeling.
"what about you..?" he peaks through his fingers to neteyam.

"oh, everyone knows him. i was surprised he didn't already have his eyes on someone."
tahix's eyes widen where you could visibly see him connecting the dots.

"him?!" he yells, thinking his ears were deceiving.
neteyam just nods, a tight smile curling up.
"you know, he was never really the one to like someone but rather have people liking him"

neteyam blinks with his mouth gaped.
"for real?"
"for real."

"does he have an ex?"
tahix shrugs his shoulders, pouting.
"he isn't the type to reveal himself nor talk about his past or anything so we're all left in the dark."

neteyam hums, hitting against the large branch that they've been sitting on with a smaller stick he found beside him. neteyam knew he could always ask aonung about his past, perhaps they could get to know each other a little better.

"but what's the situation between you and that hunk of yours" neteyam nudges the boy with a grin, laughing at his flushed expression.

"we've.. been secretly together for a few months now, almost going on five."
"oh eywa, that's so cute" neteyam drags, interlacing his fingers together.
"but! no one can know. only you and the group knows."
neteyam nods with a stern expression, saluting.
"secrets safe with me"

"your secrets safe with me too" tahix mimics the boy, laughing afterwards.
"who else knows about you and aonung?"
neteyam shakes his head, looking at tahix.
"no one, only you ... and maybe his sister. you've seen how close they are."

tahix agrees with a head tilt and a nod before his eyes glisten as a great idea pops up in mind.
"say, we should do a double date"
neteyam's eyes glisten the same way, excessively nodding with enthusiasm.
"we should!! and we can enjoy a nice evening as a group, getting to know each other more"

tahix nods with even more enthusiasm as the sky slowly darkens over time.
"wow i didn't realise how long we've been here.. we should probably head back." they stand up to stretch their legs before neteyam jumps down with tahix following.

"let's go."

"nung.. can i ask you something?"

after the hangout with tahix, neteyam is now with aonung, laying on a rock not too far out from the shore with his head leaned up against the boy's chest; listening to every beat of his heart as music.

"yeah? what is it?" aonung's hand caress and play with neteyam's braids, occasionally twisting them around his finger.

"do you have an ex?"
aonung pauses at the odd question as neteyam pulls his head up.
"you do don't you?"

"i did, yes. but it was because my parents had set me up with one of their friends' daughter."
neteyam giggles as he lays his head against aonung's chest once more, playing with the loose ends of his loin cloth.

"it didn't last long. we discovered something about ourselves." neteyam moves an inch on his chest, confused.

"and what's that?"
"we're both gay."
neteyam being flabbergasted, falls into a fit on laughter at the moment.

"but.. her friends on the other hand.. they've had their eyes on me since then. even till now. nothing i do can make them leave me alone, it's annoying." he sighs in frustration.

"guess they could help themselves. i mean who could? if you're so good looking?" neteyam smirks at himself.

aonung looks at him, smiling before planting a kiss on the other boy's lips.
"you're cute, kitty."
neteyam looks away.
"what's with the random pet name."

"i already told you, something about you is very cat-like and the name kitty just suits you."

neteyam rolls his eyes playfully, his smile never leaving his side.
"one day you're going to call me that and kiri will think you're calling her instead."
aonung chuckles.
"guess i'll just have to call you kitty when we're alone then"
