"What?" Stevie grumbled, obviously becoming annoyed.
"Um... Can I sleep with you tonight?" Lindsey repeated, shifting uneasily.
Stevie finally processed what he was saying.
"Sleep with me?!"
"What! Lindsey I dunno how I'd feel about that..." She said, blinking rapidly to keep her eyes open.
"Please, Steph!" He said, anxiously looking around.
"What the hell! How am I supposed to be okay with letting him in! " Stevie thought.
It's enough that I even opened the door..."
Looking up at him, she glanced up at his blue eyes, trying not to make eye contact, knowing she'd get lost in them.
Finally giving in, she stepped aside.
"Don't expect me to bail you out next time." She said, folding her hands over her chest.
Lindsey gave her a smirk and walked over to the couch.
Looking around, he saw that 2 of her 6 inch black heels were strewn on the floor next to her bedroom wall.
"Well that explains it." He thought, sinking down into the couch.
Stevie crashed onto the bed next to him.
"I haven't slept for shit all week." She moaned, slumping against the headboard. Lindsey shuffled over and sat down next to her.
"Have you tried putting the mattress on the floor?" He asked. Stevie lifted her head up suddenly and looked at him.
"No, I haven't actually." She said, standing up. Lindsey got to his feet and helped her shove the mattress onto the floor next to the bed. Falling down onto the mattress, Stevie tossed around for a minute before surprisingly becoming sleepy.
"How did you know that'd help?" Stevie said, yawning.
"Well that is how you slept for about 3 years..." Lindsey said, smiling. He sat down next to her and began to cuddle up on the other side of the mattress.
"Lindsey what the hell..." Stevie said, beginning to drift off.
"Come on Steves, I'll leave when you fall asleep." He promised, pulling her in closer. Stevie just nodded and fell asleep. Lindsey buried his face into her golden hair and lay there smiling to himself. A couple minutes later, one of Stevie's legs brushed over Lindsey's. But something about the way her leg felt seemed off to him. Lifting up the blankets a little, he squinted in the darkness at her leg. Not being able to see anything, he gave up and sunk back into his pillow.
"It's probably nothing." He thought to himself, and drifted off, with his arms still wrapped around Stevie.
