After what seemed like an eternity of climbing the stairs, the two of you finally reached the rooftop. It seemed like Kuina was training your stamina. Kuina led you in through the door and opened it up. You guessed that all the doors being unlocked also meant the roof. It was a large balcony with some AC systems on one side, and a railing along the edges of the rooftop. Supposedly this rooftop used to be in use for rooftop parties and such.

She dragged you to the edge and stopped at the railing, pointing at the sky. "Look. Soon it'll be sunset, and it's gorgeous" She exclaimed excitedly. You sat crossed legged on the floor and watched up at the sky. Kuina joined you on the ground. Soon, the sky turned from a brilliant blue to a mix of a cold pink and lilac, then changing to a beautiful bright shade of orange, mixing with reds and yellows. The clouds were practically glowing with sunlight. It was the most beautiful sunset you had seen in forever. You missed feeling alive like this. It was the small things about life that were so beautiful to you.

The two of you watched in a comfortable silence, just enjoying the beautiful show. The sky started darkening and the colours started flushing out and turning to a dark blue. You turned to Kuina, "how did you find out about this" making small talk. She turned to you too. "Well, Chishiya and I come here sometimes, and coincidentally it's sometimes sunset too. It's not like we come here specifically to look at the sunset or sunrise, usually it's just to discuss what Chishiya's next plan is. But I love it here" she finished. You smiled at her and then turned to look at the remaining strip of orange which disappeared within the deep blues and blacks of the sky.

"Actually," Kuina broke the silence. "I've seen Chishiya here before. When he thinks no one is here, that no one's seen him. I came up here to just see the sunset myself but when I opened the door, I saw him leaning against the railing, so I left. I thought I'd leave him alone. He acts like he doesn't care but he does. Sometimes, atleast" You watched the stars appear in the sky. "He's so cold with me sometimes. Honestly, I can't lie, it does hurt sometimes. I consider him a good friend, but he gets so caught up in his 'plans' that he forgets he's human sometimes. He does a lot of things that I find questionable but I know he's just trying to survive"
"Maybe he just needs time. This situation we're in is so incomprehensible. Even someone as intelligent as him must be affected by it, wether he shows it or not" you reassured her.

"Yeah, you're right. You know, I'm really glad you're here. Chishiya and Ann are dear to me but sometimes they're very similar to eachother. Distant. But you're just like me" she smiled and held her cold hands together. "It's getting a bit cold out here now, should we head back in?" She spoke. The muffled sounds of music became louder as the party lights were already on, and people had begun their raves, once again, like clockwork.

You stood up and held your hand out for her to grab it, and helped pull her up. The two of you left to go back inside. You got to the bottom floor and walked around to find an empty space that was calm enough to sit in. "It feels like people are partying in every corner today" you spoke, looking around. "Then forget it! Let's party today!" Kuina suddenly grabbed your hand and started dancing in the middle of the room full of people dancing to the loud music. You laughed and hesitated, but started dancing too. "Why not" you laughed to yourself. You were having fun with Kuina, she was a really good person. She had shown you a lot of kindness since you got here.

The two of you danced together with the pounding music and blinding lights flashing over your faces. People around you joined in with you and soon you were dancing with everyone. Though it felt odd to see so many people partying the night away as if they weren't playing deadly games during the morning, you understood why they were doing it. It's a tough thing to live through, and The Beach provided the only form of escapism for these people. And today, you were feeling it yourself. It successfully distracted you and you were having a lot of fun.
