Summery: Charles invites you(Lisa) hunting but he's acting odd.

------------------------------------------------------------
Lisa bent down to pick up one of the books in her tent. Finally finding one she hadn't read, she stood straight and walked to sit next to Mary-Beth. Pretty much the only woman she could tolerate besides Tilly.

"Oh, what are you reading now?" Mary-Beth asked taking the book from Lisa's hands.

Lisa laughed and gestured for her to open the cover.

"Oh Pride and Predjudice?" Mary-Beth asked, "What's it about?"

"I don't know" Lisa shrugged and smiled at Mary-Beths interest, "that's why I'm reading it".

Mary-Beth looked up at Lisa then beyond her, giving her a look to turn around.

Lisa took a look behind her and saw Charles walking towreds them. His expresson was neutral as it always was and he kept quiet when passing by the others. That didnt surprize her, he didn't talk to anyone for the most part.

Still, Lisa really liked Charles. When he did talk, it was usually to her. They would talk about anything that was going on in their lives. The times that you had talked were the highlight of her day. She couldn't tell if Charles liked her back. She couldn't tell his emotions half the time. Not like the others who's emotion could be told within a second. Except maybe Micah cause all he did was scowl.

"Lisa... i uh need a hunting partner" he said, "would you join me?"

Lisa stood up from her chair looking confused, "you need a hunting partner? Me?"

"Yeah if you can..." He said.

"Yeah sure Charles... just let me get some pants on" she said, "its not much fun hunting in a skirt".

She gave a nod to Charles and walked to her tent to change.

Charles had been waiting for her at the table. Mary-Beth had taken to reading her book quietly. Charles stood and shoved a rifle in her hands.

"There's a huge bear tearing up a hunting spot. There's a reward for killing it" he said, without looking at her.

"Oh um... why did you want me to come with?" She asked as they walked to their horses.

"Your more capable than most, and all the other guys are doing something else" Charles said with a shrug.

Lisa nodded, still a bit confused and mounted her horse. They rode off out of camp and onto the road. Charles said nothing during the ride. Except he did frequently glance over at Lisa.

"You know... you could have gone with Arthur" Lisa said with a small shrug.

Charles looked at her for a moment. Though he kept his mouth shut.

"I haven't hunted many bears" Lisa said.

Nothing.

"Okayyyyy" Lisa said, "well you could at least tell me where we're going".

Charles cleared his throat, "we're going the right way".

Lisa hummed and looked ahead of them. They were heading into dense forest now. The tall trees gave them shade from the sun.

"Here" Charles said.

"Um okay..." Lisa said and got off her horse.

Charles followed her into the forest.

"Here look" Charles said, pulling her arm.

He pointed to the corpse of a deer. It was decomposed and smelled awful.

"Dead deer? Bears don't hunt dear" Lisa said.

"Other hunters saw the reward... I'm sure they'll jump on the opportunity to get the money" Charles said, "it might have been them".

"Charles seriously why did you bring me?" Lisa asked.

Charles looked at her and gave a small smile.

"I... wanted you to come because I trust you" Charles said, "and... I have to tell you something".

Lisa looked at him curiously as he started to walk ahead of her. She jogged to keep up with him as he kept a quick pace.

He stopped her from walking when they got to a river.

Lisa kneeled to splash some water in her face.

"What did you want to tell me?" Lisa asked as she stood and looked up at him.

He crossed his arms and looked away from her this time.

"Charles?" She asked in a concerned voice.

"We've been friends for a while... right?" Charles asked.

"Yes, i'd say wr have" Lisa said, tilting her head, "why do you ask?"

He finally looked at her.

"Well... I realized you were one of the only person that I enjoy talking to" Charles said, "or be around for that matter".

Lisa nodded in agreement, "I like talking to you too Charles. You're a nice man".

Charles looked like he wanted to say something, but it was as if he couldn't find the words. Lisa took his hand in concern trying to get him to look at her again.

"Hey, what is it?" Lisa questioned.

Charles took her hands in his and sighed.

"I... like you" Charles said.

Lisa wasn't sure what to say as she looked at him in shock. Charles tensed and started to back away from Lisa to give her some space. His hands left hers and dropped to his side.

"Charles i..." She started taking a step towreds him.

"No it's alright... I understand" Charles interrupted.

"Charles, I like you too" Lisa said before he could run away completely, "I didn't realize you had the same feelings".

A small smile started appear on Lisa's face, as did a light blush.

The hunt started to become less important to Lisa. All she could do was stare at Charles still in surprise.

"Well... what do you want to do? ... forget about... this?" Lisa asked.

Charles chuckled, "well I'd actually rather kiss you right now".

Lisa smiled and stepped forward.

He pulled her close to him and kissed her passionately. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled herself closer to him. The romantic gesture was so sweet it made Lisa breathless.

They pulled back from eachother but didn't let go of their embrace. Lisa looked up at Charles and waited for him to speak.

"Let's keep hunting that bear..." Charles said, "we can talk after that"

"Okay" Lisa said smiling ear to ear.
