(About 3 minutes after the queen's rapture)

Everyone from the court was gathered. Social, War, Science and Magic were all sitting down on their respective seats. The only empty seats was the queen's seat and the king's seat. I was standing in the middle of the court, where the glass from the dome on the ceiling broke. "We must follow that man and take back our queen!!!" War shouted. "But we dont even know where the guy took her!" Magic shouted at War. "Well actually there is a way to find out..." Science said softly. "What did you say?! I didn't hear you!!!" War shouted at Science. "Umm, uhhhh, well, I..." Science mumbled. "What?!!" War questioned Science pretty loudly "Hey!!! Maybe you shouldn't pressure him! Can't you see that he's clearly uncomfortable!!!" Social yelled. "Well I can't see emotions like you, weirdo!!!" War yelled out. "Oh shut up!!!!" Social screamed at him. "Make me!!!" War shouted and stood up. He looked menacing. "ORDER!!!" I boomed. Everyone shut up, War even sat down. "We have to organize ourselves if we want to take our queen back." I said. "What? How do we do that? We cant do anything without our queen!" War argued. "Well we have to try!!" I shouted. "What even makes you the king anyways? Just because the queen told you to take care of the people doesn't make you the king!" Magic pointed out. "Well, I-I..." I faltered. Magic had a point, I was no king. "Can we at least, know, what happened to the queen?" Science interrupted my anxious thoughts. "Don't you already know what happened to the queen?" I asked. "Well, you only told us that the queen got kidnapped by a man in the 2 minutes that we were lounging around" Science said plainly. "Why is there glass on the ground?." Magic asked. "If you loo-" "Actually, I can tell you all what happened, let the 'king' go for now, we will have a guard escort you to the court if we need your assistance" War cut me off. "Hmph, ok...I guess" I reluctantly agreed. I didn't want to leave, but I was being pressured by the stares of everyone in the court. I couldn't handle it anymore and quietly shifted over to the doors. I quickly glanced around the room one last time before slightly opening the doors and sliding out. A guard outside the two giant doors closed the doors behind me. The instant the door shut, I heard an explosion of voices on the other side. "Missing out on what the advisors say, nice" I said. I looked at the ridiculously long corridor in front of me. I started walking, going down some stairs. After a long time of walking and getting lost, I stopped at a flight of stairs. "Ugh, stairs..." I sighed. "Heyyy, whatcha 'doin?" I heard someone call out. I looked back to see a white shadow with black arms. "Oh you, I'm just trying to find a way out of this maze." I said. "So you're lost?" The shadow asked. "I..." I hesitated, not wanting to admit that I was lost in the palace as the makeshift king of the kingdom. The shadow stared at me, it probably already knew I was lost. "...Ok fine. I'm lost." I admitted. "Heh, it's ok, I'll show you the way out." The shadow started down the stairs. "Hey, wait up!" I called while going down the stairs. The shadow didn't listen, it kept walking. I went down the stairs hurriedly and ran to the shadow. We moved alongside each other. "Do you remember how it was to be an evil shadow?" I asked. "Uhh, no, I haven't thought of that yet..." The shadow said. It stopped for a moment. "What happened?" I asked the shadow. "I can't remember anything before the green fire..." The shadow realised and kept moving. I heard something shifting behind one of the doors in the hallway...or was it my imagination? I ran to the shadow. It didn't feel safe here anymore. "Hey uhhh, Shadow?" I asked. "Please, call me Light." Light corrected me. "Right, do you feel that we're being spied on right now?" I asked. "No, are we?" Light asked. "Forget it, I'm probably just being paranoid." I said. Many hallways later. A door seemed to bust itself open. "Ah!" I screamed. " Who's there!!!" Light shouted, a ball of light formed in its hands. "Hey, hey, it me!" Science's voice called out. "Why are you here!? You should be in the court!" I said. "I know I should be there, but no one listens to me when I explain how we can get the queen back." Science explained. "So you do know how to get the queen." I realised. "Yup, it simple really. I just need to get this out..." Science said as he moved his hand through a bag that I just now noticed. After an awkward while of waiting, Science finally pulled out what seemed to be a camera. "What's that?" I asked. "Its a shadow detector, it can detect the smallest amounts of dark energy." Science explained to me. "I made this years ago when we were hunting down the last of the shadow army lurking in our kingdom, it's hasn't been used since but now..." Science said. "...Now, maybe you can use it to find our queen?" Science wondered out loud. "I might..." I started thinking about how to use the shadow detector. "Oh here you go." Science gave me the shadow detector. "It beeps when a shadow prescence is near it." Science told me. "Won't it detect my presence?" Light asked. "Erm, well no, you are made of light matter, not dark matter..." Science explained. "Hmmm, maybe some samples might be useful to find out what you're made of, can I have some samples?" Science offered Light. "Uhhh, no?" Light denied, it seemed to not understand what "samples" meant. "Welp, it was worth the attempt." Science said. "Whatever, how are we even supposed to track down where the tentacle man took the queen? It went through a portal" I asked. "I suspect the man took the queen through another portal." Science theorized. "What? But we clearly saw that the man disappeared through the portal that it created." I reasoned. "No, that is literally impossible, no portal can be made in an instant, I think the portal was an illusion and that the man did something to make itself and the queen invisible somehow." Science explained. 'So we've been bamboozled!' I thought "Now go outside, I don't think we have much time left!" Science ushered me down two more hallways before stopping at some 30 foot doors. "I have to stay in the palace, now go! Save our queen!!" Science shouted as he hobbled back to the court. "I guess we gotta go now" I said. "Yep..." Light agreed. I stepped forward, the wooden doors opened automatically. The bridge across the moat was still layed down. "What is that thing!!!" A guard screamed. "Hey it's alright, it's a good shadow!" I defended Light. "Hi?" Light said awkwardly. "So, can you just let us pass through?" I asked the guard. "Ok...sure" The guard sighed reluctantly. We wandered through the wooden bridge. "Ok so are we meant to read the air for shadow traces?" Light asked. "It seems like we should." I said, pointing the detector at the sky. "Ok, let's see what is in the sky!" I said as I pushed a button on the detector "SCANNING...SCANNING..." The detector emitted a laser. A few seconds later, an image popped up, showing the sky. There was a broken line of darkness going in front of us. "I guess that nerd was right all along..." Light said as it was looking at the image on the detector. "Yea, well, we gotta go over...there" I pointed to the city" I said as I showed Light the image. "Ok, let's go to the city then!" Light said, already running for the city. I followed Light as it ran through the many streets that this city had. After what seemed like an eternity of running, we found ourselves on a empty stone circle with a tower in the middle. "Is that the one I was in when the invasion happened?" I said out loud. "What?" Light asked. "Oh nothing, I'll tell you later." I said. "Alright, what is happening in the skies now?" I pulled out the detector, pointed it at the sky and pushed the button. The image on it revealed that the tentacle guy had entered the tower and never came out... "Ok so, the man entered there and... disappeared?" Light wondered. "I guess." I shrugged. "Hey, are you Kyle?!" I heard someone call out. "What? Oh yes, that's me." I confirmed. The person that called out was a guard. "Alright boys, GET HIM!!!" The guard shouted. "Wait what!?!" I said. A bunch of armored people bursted out of the surrounding buildings. A swarm of them appeared before I could even react. "Quickly!!! Get in the tower!!!" I screamed as I pushed the door open and pulled Light in the tower. As soon as we got in the tower, Light reacted and pushed the door closed. A few seconds later the soldiers were banging on the tower's door. "Why are the soldiers from this kingdom attacking us?!" I complained loudly. "I don't know!" Light screamed as it struggled to keep the door closed. "WE HAVE ORDERS FROM THE MARBLE PALACE TO CAPTURE YOU!" The soldier banging the door shouted. "The palace issued the order, but aren't you meant to be the king?!" Light said. "I...War, he sent the order!!!" I realized in an outrage. "Who's War?" Light asked. I ignored it, instead, I looked for anything to get us out of this tower without getting captured by a soldier or something. "I'm not gonna hold much longer!" Light shouted. The banging on the door got louder. That's when I noticed a red glow coming from behind the stairs leading to the upper floor of the tower. I ran to see what was causing the glow. It was..."The portal! Its here!!! I screamed. I ran back to Light, it looked very tired. I looked around for a way to help Light. A couple of convenient crates were lying around. I pulled the crates to Light. It saw what I was doing and helped creating a barricade on the door. "I can't believe they would betray me like this." I said in disbelief. "Yeah" Light said sadly. We continued making the barricade until we put at least 20 crates. Light and I ran to the portal. I realised that this was probably the last time I'd see this kingdom peacefully, until I find Kate. "I just hope this place isn't destroyed by the time I come back." I said, stepping into the portal and into my exile.
