Kion stayed up all night guarding the entrance to the cave. Rani slept like a rock.
Rani started to shift. He claws extended. "No!" She screamed, "No! No leave me alone!" Kion turned around. Rani was still sleeping, but she was twisting and turning.
It was still dark. The outlanders were usually up then. If Rani kept screaming, they would find her. Kion walked over to Rani.
Kion used his paw, and slightly nudged her, "Hey wake up." Rani didn't. She tensed up and screamed again. Kion put his front paws on her shoulder, and shook her harder. Rani still didn't wake up. She flailed around.
Kion sighed. He roared in her ear. "Ahh!" Rani screamed and she jumped up. Kion covered her mouth, "Do you want them to find us!" He took his paw off her mouth. Rani looked down.
"Why were you screaming?" Kion asked. "It's nothing, let's just go," Rani kept her head down. She started walking out.
Kion smirked. He jumped infront if her, "No, you aren't going anywhere. I may be an outlander, but that doesn't mean im heartless."
Rani looked up at him, "I had a nightmare." "Yeah I figured that out already," Kion chuckled. "ITS NOT FUNNY!" Rani screamed. Kion's ears perked up, "They're coming!" Rani covered her mouth. "Hide in the shadows. I'll lead them away," Kion ran out.
"No wait don't leave me!" Rani shouted. Kion was already gone. Rani went to the back of the cave.
Kion listened for his pride.
They walked right up to Kion. "Kion, where have you been!" Respu growled.

(Respu 27, Respu means, "Danger" It doesn't actually mean that. Respu doesn't have an actually have a meaning, so I made one up)
"Leave me alone dad. I can do what I want," Kion replied. "Alright fine. But keep a look out. I caught scent of a lioness from the Tree Of Life," Respu licked his muzzle, "And I'm getting hungry." "Yeah sure thing dad," Kion nodded.
A lioness walked up to them. "Hi Respu," She nuzzled him. "Hi Zama," Respu replied.

Zama looked at Kion and smiled, "Hi son." "Hi mom," Kion replied. Zama's expression changed. "What's that smell, it smells like-" Respu cut her off, "It smells like the Tree Of Life." Respu lifted his muzzle in the air, looking for the scent.
Respu walked right infront of Kion. "The scent, it's all over you," Respu said, "Do you have her!" "Uh no of course I don't. I would have brought her to you," Kion replied. "Then explain why you smell like lioness, and the Tree Of Life," Respu growled.
"Well, I was by the Tree Of Life border, and there are a bunch of lionesses here," Kion said, thinking quick.
"Oh, well if you see her, bring her here. I want something to eat," Respu dig his claws into the ground. Kion nodded and walked away.
Rani waited in the den. A dark figure walked to the entrance. Rani kept quiet. Kion came into view. Rani sighed.
"We almost got caught," He growled, "Mask your scent. It getting all over me. My dad is getting suspicious." "Oh sorry," Rani apologized. She rolled around in dirt. Kion did the same.
"Yuck. I hate the smell of the Tree Of Life," Kion said shaking out his fur. "I have hate the smell of Outlanders," Rani replied. Kion rolled his eye's.
Rani stuck her tongue out at him. "You know I can just bring you to my dad and have you killed in a second," Kion said. "Why would you do that!" Rani shouted.
"Because your disrespecting me," Kion replied. Rani frowned. "Ok let's go." Kion walked out. "Wait!" Rani ran after him.
She caught up to him, "Why didn't you want to tell me about your mom and dad before?" Rani asked. "My adoptive dad doesn't really care about me either," Kion sighed. "What are you saying?" Rani asked confused.
"Words!" Kion cracked a smile. Rani shook her head with a chuckle. They continued walking.
"Are we almost there?" Rani asked. "Maybe," Kion replied. "What do you mean 'maybe'?" Rani asked. "I don't know," Kion shrugged. "Ok stop that!" Rani shouted in frustration.
"Nah," Kion chuckled. Rani flicked her tail in annoyance. "Ha I've finally annoyed you," Kion laughed. "Let's just keep going," Rani rolled her eyes. "Ok Princess."
"Don't call me that," Rani groaned. Kion shrugged.
