despite the fact that chishiya shuntaro would quiver at the beastly look in your eyes, he also felt a sense of familiarity.
the only problem was that he couldn't quite place his finger into what made you so familiar to him.
and that, was unlike him, so as he began to narrow down the options, leading to only two, he let out a hum of amusement.
were you the woman in his dreams, or did you just have one of those many faces?
or... were you someone he'd met before the borderlands and just shrugged you off after your first encounter?
one thing was for sure, chishiya was determined to find out.
maybe you'd fit well into his scheme, and only time would be able to tell, and he could wait for time.

your eyes glanced around the room, taking notice of the board behind chishiya and two other executives that contained the game cards with a red strung 'x' crossing some of the cards.chishiya took note of the way you lifted a brow, your once upturned lips now formed into a thin line, and confusion twinkled in your eyes as you kept scanning the room you were in.
chishiya delivered a small wave, seeing your eyes focused on him once again, and he noticed a sense of recognition glimmer within your eyes.
oh?
maybe he wasn't the only one who thought the other was familiar.
"allow me to enlighten you..." hatter, the number one on the beach, voice booming around the room, catching your attention as your eyes veered to him.
"these cards... these cards are the only way to end your nightmare." hatter started, his back turned to you as his right arm outstretched to point at the suit of cards on the board in front of you.
hatter then began to describe that after collecting the complete suit of cards, one person would be able to return to the 'real' world, explaining the purpose of the 'beach' to you slowly and clearly.
you snorted slightly, thinking to yourself, 'how utterly foolish.'
chishiya rose a brow at your reaction to hatter's reason and explanation for the utopia known as the 'beach'.
hatter dismissed your silent laughter and began to wander around the room.
"we only have three rules." hatter uttered once again, now properly facing you.
"rule one, always wear a swimsuit." hatter began, pointing at his attire.
"it would be harder to conceal a weapon with attire like that, huh? quite smart." you interrupted, but then again, people would always find a way to conceal a maybe... makeshift weapon?
at that thought, your eyes glanced at chishiya once again, soon returning to hatter after you were sure that chishiya noticed you staring, he let out a loud laugh at your observation.
"you are free to drown in alcohol, get high on drugs, and have sex as much as you want!" hatter continued as he began walking around once again, "enjoy your life as much as you can."
"rule two, all cards are the beach's property... all the cards you've collected, we'll hang onto for safe keeping." hatter grabbed the cards you owned that he had lined up earlier and began walking towards you.
"those who have contributed their cards will be promoted in numerical order. once we've got duplicate cards as well, we'll be able to send out a second, third, and so on."
"the day when the beach's brothers and sisters can leave this country is fast approaching!"
"and how exactly would you determine who leaves?" your voice interrupts, causing hatter to halt in his tracks and turn to stare.
chishiya's lips turn up into a small smirk.
"i truly don't believe only one person would be able to leave this country... even if only one were able to leave, would they walk towards a pedestal as everyone sheds a tear and says goodbye? would we be sent back randomly? are there truly enough duplicate cards for all of us to go, especially after so many people are getting sent to this country..."
you hesitated, 'if i want to live a long life in this community, i'll have to be a useful tool they can't get rid of.'
"what about if we get sent back to this country again and this paradise no longer exists? have we ever thought about that?"
you understood well that the words departing your lips would end in two ways, death, or a a beneficial resource who could speak their mind towards a feared and treasured leader.
hatter chuckled, intrigued, outraged as well, but only slightly. a woman speaking her thoughts towards a leader of the beach possessing such an aura?
"making quite the first impression, aren't we?" hatter strolled over to chishiya, "chishiya, see if she's a good candidate for an executive post..." hatter whispered.
chishiya replies with a nod, his lips slightly upturned, "let's not think about the negatives such as returning to this country..." hatter trailed off.
"why don't you show us how useful a woman who knocked out cold a militant corp can be." hatter clamored, signaling to the man behind to untie you.
you released a sigh of relief feeling the tension in your body and your hands released, touching your wrist and shaking them slightly in your grasp to get the blood flow moving.
"you both may go." hatter dismissed, chishiya walking towards the door and signaling for you to follow, which you did.
but before you could leave the room, hatter began again, "oh, and the third and last rule, death to any traitor." he spoke with a firm tone.
