the beastly look in your eye made it seem as though it was just a glare to keep others away from you.
a pathetic attempt to make people submit and fear you, a way to keep yourself distant from other people, a defense mechanism.
but as you observed hatter in the chair, the more you listened, the more you processed the information, and the more chishiya realized that look wasn't an attempt or a way to keep people at bay.
you were a beast, impulsive with your remarks towards hatter and the other executives, occasionally even the militant corps, cruel with tearing apart the purpose of the utopia, their plans to complete the suit of cards and return home.
most of all, every time your eyes managed to land back on chishiya, you were eyeing him up like prey, and he was as well, the only difference was the way you looked at each other.
but to chishiya, you weren't that major of a threat, at least, not just yet...
after all, you were merely only a beast, not a monster, and chishiya desired he'd be there to watch your growth from beast to monster, why?
because you would find him familiar, you would know him, and befriending a beast before evolving into a monster would be beneficial to ensure his survival, especially in the borderlands.

"i chose the wrong community to join," you whispered to yourself, awkwardly standing inside a bar, surrounded by people dancing, drinking, and doing something else you couldn't even mention, especially look at."how many others do you know?" chishiya's amused voice suddenly interrupted your train of judging thoughts directed to the other players.
"just this one, but pretty high chance there might be more, right?" you turn your head to face chishiya, who slowly made his way beside you, hands still deep in his pockets.
chishiya's eyes skimmed around the bar. he soon took notice of how your aura had become a bit calmer, had he mistaken what he saw?
chishiya's eyes landed back to you, observing your facial expressions and occasionally your body language, watching a scowl form on your face and leave as quickly as it came.
"i tend to be tenser around a ton of people. it causes me to be more impulsive considering i'm not used to people. frankly, i despise them." you spoke again, giving him the answer he needed but didn't expect.
"quite the words to relay on a stranger, much less an executive... do i seem like a person to trust?" chishiya snickered as he kept observing you, watching as you continued to look straight ahead and not at him.
a few minutes of comfortable silence passed, you didn't give chishiya the answer he expected, but rather, just stayed silent, and chishiya waited patiently.
"you have lovely beauty marks." you pointed at the mole under his left eye, "to be honest, it was the first thing i noticed about you, besides your eyes."
"with the way you were... shamelessly staring, i was sure you'd notice more than that." chishiya chuckled, trying to stifle the desire to cover the mole under his eye. despite pointing at the mark on his face, he took note of the way you were glancing somewhere else.
his neck maybe?
"shamelessly? such strong words coming from you, executive... i'm sure i wasn't the only one staring." you now pivoted your entire body to face him, maintaining eye contact with him.
"have you ever heard of that myth?" you questioned, continuously changing the subject and returning to the conversation about his beauty mark.
"which one? there are plenty." chishiya questioned back, not letting you finish your sentence, his entire body now facing you as well.
"that your beauty marks are where your past lover kissed you the most..." you trailed off, chishiya lifted a brow, confused at what you were trying to do.
chishiya thought about the mark under his eye, considering that was the beauty mark you had commented on earlier.
He stopped fighting the urge and covered the mark under his eye, thinking about what words he would say next.
after a few more seconds of silence between the two of you, you uttered in a low voicr, "do you remember now?"
chishiya stayed silent, pondering about how to respond to your question, his hand lowered, and found its way back inside his pockets.
"yes, though i must admit, i didn't take you as someone that believes in—" chishiya answered, interrupted by the horn loudly blaring in the bar, followed by the cheers of the people inside as they began to walk towards the lobby.
you followed the mob but stopped in your tracks a few feet away from the executive. chishiya was about to follow as well, but he didn't move, his body was anticipating something, but his mind didn't know what.
you opened your mouth, shut it, and then opened it again to let out, "i wasn't talking about that." with a small frown.
