"I never said I was going to go easy on you, did I beauty?" Childe smirked, whispering in your ear as he held a water blade against your throat. 

Beauty. The thing he called you when he saved you from getting arrested a second time, after fighting you for the first time after his betrayal. You decided to trust him again.. you didn't know why but whatever part of you decided to trust him again was stupid. Making sure you were in Mondstadt, unable to call for your new friends to help, the adepti. Even worse, he had lured you here with a fake date.

"I didn't even know you were going to fight me! You jumped me!" you snap at him, and he just keeps staring in your eyes with a bloodthirsty look. You can tell this was his plan now, revenge for defeating him the first time. He wasn't going to let you win this time for sure, or possibly even make it out alive.

"I had to, I gave you a warning the first time and you beat me. I won't let you beat me again, Y/N. I won't let that happen." The look of bloodthirsty wrath turned into anger, a little bit of sadness in his eyes too. Was it because he didn't want to hurt them, or that he wouldn't get a fair fight out of this and he was upset.

He started to hesitate, then his smirk faded a little. "You don't want to kill me, do you?" You question him, as you are able to reach your sword during his moment of hesitation. You freeze the blades and you're able to kick him off of you and stand up, but you don't do anything else other than stand over him with him laying back on the ground. You never wanted to fight him, either time you didn't want to fight with him. You never saw him as an enemy. Unlike how you thought he saw you, you saw him as a friend. 

"I'm not fighting you, Childe. You're a friend, a neutral if not that. I am not fighting you unless you fight me first and I have to defend myself. Thankfully, it seems like you're getting hesitant."

His eyes closed shut tightly as he shook his head a lot after sitting up. "I'm not hesitant, I'm just planning my next move, beauty." He stated, but his voice sounded hesitant. He was clearly hesitating to harm you, reasons at the moment unknown.

"You can't call me beauty when you were trying to kill me, Childe. I don't even know why you are, not like I'll hear you out on any reason you could give me. Trying to kill people is wrong, even for a harbinger."

Childe let out a frustrated sigh, staring you right in the eyes as you also stared him down. You both seem to be frozen in the moment for a minute or two, before Childe finally lets a sentence out of his mouth. "Listen, beau- I mean Y/N. It's not like that, I swear. I have a reason, it's humiliating."

"How can a reason for attempted murder not be humiliating. You try to murder someone, that should be humiliating enough." You scoff, crossing your arms and staring at him with a disappointed and disapproving look.

"No, not that kind of humiliating. It is a very different kind of humiliating, Y/N. It's a I'm in love with you and I don't want to feel that kind of humiliating. Actually, not kind of, it is that kind of humiliating." Childe said outright, making you clearly begin to blush even though you didn't want to.

"You what now? Childe, what the hell do you mean? You're.. in love with me? That's nuts! You don't try to kill someone you're in love with, you're just trying to make some sort of excuse." You protest, backing up a small bit as he stands up and starts coming towards you. 

You go to turn and run but before you are able to he grabs your arm, yanking you close to his chest. He holds the back of your head quite gently, which makes you start to struggle against him a little. You know you probably can't get out of the grip of a harbinger so easily, but you still keep trying to struggle because you don't know if he's trying to kill you or not.

"Y/N, please. I swear I'm being honest. I'm sorry for trying to kill you.. well multiple times.. and everything else I've done to affect you." He pleaded, looking you in the eyes as you struggled greatly in his grip.

"Only me?! Only me, Childe!? You have hurt so many people and you're only apologizing for me? You should be apologizing to all of Liyue! Oh my archons.. even more people than that actually." You snap at him, but the anger was followed by a sense of dread by the end of the bath of sentences. You dreaded thinking about how many people has actually hurt or killed.. and it had made your heart sink to the pit of your stomach for a moment.

"I'm a harbinger Y/N, I don't hurt people for no reason. Well.. sometimes I do.. but ignore that I do that. Please, I'm so sorry for everything, just love me... even if it's fake for a moment." Childe whimpered, making your cheeks become red. You started to realise he was now pleading and whimpering for you to forgive him and love him.. and he didn't care if it was fake?

"You don't care that it's fake? Are you mentally ill or something I-" You try to spit out rude and insulting gibberish at this point to hide how red, flustered and weird you're feeling all at once.

"You've seen how I act, you know the answer to if I'm mentally ill, Y/N." Childe sighed, shaking his head before looking at you again. He looked into your eyes, gently taking your cheek into one of his hands well the other held your back to keep you close.

"May I?" He whispered to you quietly, still clearly lost in your eyes well you yourself were a blushing red mess. "Kiss you, I mean. You don't seem to be getting the hint."

You try to get a yes out of your mouth, basically forgetting about all the things you were mad at him for in that moment. He seemed to know what you were trying to say though, as he pulled you a little closer and kissed you.

"I could tell you were trying to say yes, comrade. Thank you for that." Childe smiled, now letting you go as you scrambled back in a blushing mess.
