time ticked in slow motion sometimes and it felt like the minutes droned on for hours. it was the same routine day in and day out; it became easy for one to get bored of the same cycle. Melly watched the clock relentlessly knowing that anyday he could be going home. he spent years behind bars and he could wait to get a taste of freedom. he went to court last week and to his surprise they appealed his charges meaning he would be going home. it was just a matter of when he would be going home. being here only made him appreciate what he once took for granted. he made himself a serious promise that he would never be back here again. he couldn't do this whole process again or anymore for that matter. growing up in Gifford, he succumbed to the street life and found himself getting into petty trouble at an early age. from home invasions to bringing guns to school, he did it just for the hell of it. it was some image he wanted to live up to and at the time it made him happy, but sitting behind bars as a result did not. he missed out on so many important milestones being locked behind bars and he couldn't let the system take anymore from him. he couldnt let himself take anymore from him; he owed it to himself to tighten up.

being in and out of jail was not what he imagined for himself. he had dreams of being a rapper and just when he felt he was making his big break, trouble swooped in once again. now here he was in the same situation all over again. he didn't want his talent nor his dreams go to waste. he hoped his team would hold it down for him till he got out, but things weren't how they should be. he wasnt in the industry long enough to build a catalog so he had no songs to drop while he was locked away. during his stay though, he wrote numerous songs that he couldn't wait to record when he was free.

this time behind bars opened his eyes to things that he hadn't even realized before. that included the love he had for his now 3 year girlfriend, Egypt. they met in high school but he was so busy running in the streets he didn't want to commit to her. he was introduced to drugs early and spent many night getting high with his friends. he would forget to text her back and it resulted in him pushing her away even tho he had serious feelings for her. his friend group wasn't the best influence cause they was down to slang that iron at anytime which only added fuel to his fire. the mix of being high and reckless just didn't sit right with Egypt. she was always there when he called but when she called it seemed like he would be MIA sometimes. he would blame it on 'hanging wit the bros' but she knew what that entailed. she couldn't help but feel like the streets, drugs, and trouble came before her all the time. it started to frustrate her because no matter how many times she tried to talk to him about it, he'd just brush her off by telling her that 'she knew how he felt about her'. she tried to break thru to him numerous times and even helped him cope with the loss of one of his friends to the streets. she thought that would show him he needed to slow down but unfortunately it only made him go harder. she had some strange idea that she could somehow fix him, but she couldn't fix anybody who didn't take the initiative themselves. it took him sitting in jail for 4 years to finally learn his lesson and he hoped when he touched fresh air he wouldn't start acting up again.

when he got locked up, it was unexpected and the policed grabbed him off the streets stating he had a warrant out for his arrest. he struggled and wanted to break free but knew it would only make his case worse and decided to just surrender peacefully. at the time Egypt was away on vacation somewhere she didn't have service and didn't know he was even locked up until 10 days after his initial booking. even though they weren't exclusive her heart still throbbed hearing he was locked up. their quirky relationship grew on her and she found herself attached to him. she couldn't get in contact with him so all she could do was wait until she heard something about him. it wasn't until one day his brother messaged her through social media saying that Melly was looking for her and hoping to get in contact. she gladly obliged and a few days later she received a phone call. she was relieved to hear his voice and instantly found herself falling into the 'ride or die' position. call her stupid but she couldn't help that she found herself loving him. their relationship gradually grew and Melly appreciated that he had someone to help get him through one of his toughest times. she would come visit once a month and he looked forward to being able to hug and kiss her. it was the only physical contact he was getting in his stay at the county and he needed it; he needed her. he didn't realize it at first but being sober allowed him to clear his mind of a lot of cloudy thoughts. he actually began to listen to the things she said and took them into consideration.
