Temetrius "Ja" Morant

the sweat poured down from my face as i stood with my hands on my hips trying to catch my breath. i looked down at my sneakers and back up at the hoop hoping i would regain my energy in 2.5 seconds. i looked around at the other players and couldn't help but put my head back in the game as they started moving around me. you could hear the sound of sneakers squeaking and the basketball bouncing. i feel like i hear it so much i started hearing it even when i wasn't at the court. i gained some momentum as i looked to my left and seen the ball being thrown my way. i quickly threw my hands out in front of me feeling the force of the ball come in contact. keeping a firm grasp i began to dribble towards the basket pushing my defense out the way with my shoulders. my other teammates did a good job at guarding but one players slipped threw. i continued to drive for the layup and i closed my eyes jumping up towards the rim. i felt the ball get smacked out of my hands and my eyes quickly shot open. i came down from my play and felt my ankle twist slightly under me.

"aw fuck," i shook my ankle slightly and threw my hands on my hips shaking my head. i tried to take another step and slightly winced.

"my bad man," my teammate looked over at me apologetic. i know he ain't mean it, in the heat of the game anything could happen. even though we was just practicing, practice could get intense.

"you good bruh," i reached out my hand to dap him up and gladly obliged. he turned to walk away and get a sip of water. i'm sure it wasn't nothing serious wrong with my ankle but right now it was hurting like a muthafucka. thank god practice was coming to a close and if i went to the physical trainer now i would get to skip out on conditioning workouts.

i added a lil more limp to my walk as coach called out, "Ja! you good?" he looked concerned that one of his best players could potentially be hurt. he placed his pen behind his ear and clutched his clipboard before walking over to him.

"ma ankle coach, i think i needa get it wrapped up," i said motioning with my hands.

he shook his head before placing his two fingers on the bridge of his nose, "be more careful i need you in one piece for the game tomorrow," he eyes me sternly, "go head."

the coach turned on his heels and walked back towards the other players that were huddled up talking waiting for their next commands. i continued to limp off to grab my belongings grabbing my phone out the pocket of my book bag before slinging it over my shoulder. i wouldn't be coming back to the gym anyway so i might as well take my shit. i continued to limp out of the gym and into the hallways before navigating through the maze like hallways. thank god i knew my way around cause i remember getting lost plenty of times as a rookie for the Grizzlies. i continued to scroll on my phone looking through social media. i liked a couple pictures and continued to heart pictures. seeing my destination come into view, i slid my phone into my pocket and adjusted my bag on my shoulder. the room showed little movement but i heard two voices as i neared the door.
