The little girl ran into the drawing room hopping with joy as her jingling bangles mingled with her giggling.
"Baba, Baba! See what I have brought!"
She extended her chubby wrists in front of her father. Putting aside the newspaper, he observed closely. Pride sparkled in his caramel-brown orbs.
"Are waah! My daughter looks like a pretty princess"
"Hai na?! I am a princess, Baba. But, Mumma said I looked like a banjari. "
She wrinkled her nose. He bit his inner cheek to control his laughter.
"Iski mumma bhi na!" he muttered under his breath.
"No, sweetheart. She would be kidding. You should have said Asian princesses wear bangles."
He picked up his cute bundle of pride in his muscular arms and pecked her forehead. His wife appeared in the corridor, beaming at the father-daughter bond.
He intended to tease her, "You may have said - She is a banjari herself"
The room was filled with little girl's mellifluous laughter.
And the proud parents smiled.
