"Chloe?" Chris's eyes were full of confusion, worry and something a little darker.
Chloe caught Lucifer's panicked look as he waved his hand at the DJ and the music cut through the chatter that had erupted after the musical number. Guests approached the center of the room, wondering what was going on and how Lucifer Morningstar was alive, months after he was pronounced dead.
"I-" He stood, dodging around a petite redhead. His eyes locked with Chloe's once more as he made his way around the piano. His hands clasped gently around her wrists. "We need to talk." He said softly as he pulled her into his space.
Chloe was still in shock when she looked up into his eyes. His head was bent forward slightly so that she could hear him speak over the noise. She wanted nothing more than to bring his head down to hers and kiss the man she loved. She was about to do just that when Chris spoke again.
"Okay seriously, who the hell is this guy?"
Neither of them had noticed that Chris had moved up onto the platform and was now standing a few feet from the dynamic duo. Lucifer grinned and straightened, sliding his left arm over Chloe's shoulders when he turned to face the annoyance.
"Lucifer Morningstar," He gave a small bow as he spoke. "And who in Dad's name are you?

Chris Cerulli paced the length of the small living area of the penthouse. His hands were shoved in his pockets, his hair standing on end from running his hands through it. "How is this even possible? You said you watched him die!" He accused Chloe, who sat up straight next to Lucifer.
Lucifer, who had his arm resting over the back of the sofa behind her, a glass of whisky held in his other hand was the one to respond. "Isn't it a miracle? I know, I know the theory is that Satan drags you down to Hell." An amused smile danced on his lips, "But wouldn't it be something if he were to drag himself up?"
Chris gaped at them both in disbelief. "Is he insane?"
"Yeah, how did you... you know?" Chloe turned to face Lucifer, placing her hand on his knee closest to her.
"Believe it or not, I simply followed my dear brother's suggestion." His eyes met hers sincerely as he carried on. "After you woke up this morning, as much as I enjoyed your company down there I'd really rather you not be. I knew I had to do something and my gut told me Amenadiel was right. So I sprouted my wings, thought about really seeing you again and here I am." He averted his loving gaze from her to glare at Chris. "And you." Lucifer stood, his glass making a clunk sound when he set it on the glass coffee table. "If I ever catch you so much as raising your voice at her again-
"What?" Chris had stopped pacing.
"In the precinct this afternoon." The men were barely two feet from each other now.
Lucifer's posture told Chloe he was ready for a fight, so she stood as well and placed a hand on his upper back. "Lucifer, it's fine."
"It most certainly is not." He spat. "Detective Dip-shit here has absolutely no respect for you. And if he's going to be your partner I demand that he treats you with the respect you deserve or I'm not having any of it.
The side of her mouth quirked up in a smile when she heard his nickname for her new partner. She understood he was probably upset about more than just the fact that Chris had yelled at her earlier that day. "And let me guess," She began with a hint of sarcasm in her tone. "You do?" She thought back to all the times he had gone behind her back on something and shook her head.
