Learn to Skate | Shun and Lia (+the others)

"This new place is so fucking cool!"

Dan enthusiastically yelled, as they entered the doors. This new ice skating rink they were entering was just built. It was a lot bigger than normal, with a more secure structure, allowing Bakugan brawlers to battle on the ice. The academy decided to have a field trip there for the students to learn some new skills and to have some fun, after all it already seemed like it was going to be a long school semester.

"I've never been ice skating before, what's it like"

They all just looked at Shira, she was peculiar. "It's pretty cool, Shun and I used to go to our Sobo and Sofu's place in the winter all the time to skate since the lake nearby would always freeze over" Mizuko exclaimed, trying to shove the skate on her foot. Shun managed to help her get it on.

"Well I'm sure we're not the only ones who know how to ice skate, right?" They looked over at the others who looked sure of themselves, well maybe apart from Shira. "I used to go with Storm sometimes so yeah, I'm sure I'll be fine. I'm sure the others will be too" Ajit replied.

Although, in reality, they weren't really sure of themselves.

The whole class eventually made it onto the rink. Some glided on smoothly, while others had a not so nice entry. Lia looked onto the ice, expression going from neutral to nervous. The others were all already on, they all seemed so confident in themselves. Especially Shun, he seemed to be in his element, he was so cute when he was doing something he enjoyed. Lia slightly blushed at the thought.

It was true, Shun was in his element, he was doing a lot better than some of the others. Well, Mizuko had as much experience as him, she doesn't really use it though. He had noticed someone was missing though. He spun around a couple of times until his eyes landed on Lia, she seemed to be struggling to get on the ice. He tilted his head slightly before skating over.

"Hi Lia, is everything alright?"

She looked up quizzically at the voice that spoke to her. Shun put out a hand to her, a concerned look on his face. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I guess" Lia mumbled, receiving an eyebrow raised at her. "I could help you on the ice if you like?" Lia just looked at him, she hesitated for a bit before grabbing his hand. He managed to help her stand up straight, and balance on the blades. "Alright, one step at a time and you'll be able to skate like everyone else" Shun smiles at Lia who did a small smile back

"Do you think I can do this?"

"I know you can"

The ice was slippery, although it wasn't as bad as Lia expected it to be. She couldn't help but grumble at the fact she couldn't exactly stand straight up though. "Fuck, you make this look so easy" Lia grumbled. Shun just chuckled. He noticed she had quite a good grip on his arms even though they were only slightly gliding along the ice. He wanted to find a way to relax her, he just wished he knew how.

"Why don't we try going a bit faster?" Shun suggested, making Lia's eyes grow wider. He just chuckled before moving slightly more, sliding his feet along the ice at a faster pace. Lia's grip got tighter, she was starting to panic. "Shun, slow down! sLOW DOWN" but he didn't. Lia didn't know whether to be scared, or fucking pissed.

"You're doing great though!"

It took a while, but Lia did realise that Shun was right and that it wasn't as bad as she thought it'd be. She managed to stand herself up a little straighter. Shun had a small smile on his face, she wanted to slap it so bad. "See, not as bad as you thought it'd be?" he hummed, causing Lia to pout.

"Yeah not so bad..."

They both seemed to have been locked in their own world after that. The others noticed this after trying to help Dan up from falling for the 6th time and trying to stop Shira from sliding away. "Hey! Shun got Lia on the ice" Wynton exclaimed, pulling Dan up.

"Dude you are hopeless at this"

Dan just grinned. "Yeah, but it's so much fun! Isn't it Shira?" He got a thumbs up in reply. They all laughed for a bit, before Mizuko pitched an idea. "Let's go see how my cousin and Lia are going" a cheeky grin formed over her face.

Wynton just sighed, why the fuck was he basically baby sitting? "No Mizuko, leave them be. Besides, it's been a while since it's just been them two." she just groaned, Ajit slapping her on the back and chuckling.

"You can annoy Shun after this, right now we need to stop Shira sliding away and knocking someone over"

Lia had almost gotten used to it, she was a lot more comfortable with it than before. She had to admit, Shun's presence helped with that, it was calming. "Do you think you might be able to do this on your own now?" Shun suddenly asked, tilting his head. She thought about it for a moment, a sigh escaped her lips.

"I guess"

"I'll be right behind you, I promise."

With those words, Lia slowly let go of Shun's arms, one after the other. "Okay, I can do this," she mumbled. She started sliding both her feet along the ice.

Steady, steady

It took a bit to get used to it, but she eventually got the grip of it. Before Lia knew it, she was gliding along the ice. Shun was right, this wasn't as bad as she was making it out to be. Something suddenly made her stop dead in her tracks

"You did it!"

Lia did a 180, Shun's voice was a lot farther than she thought, and it kind of pissed her off. "I THOUGHT YOU PROMISE YOU'D STAYED RIGHT BEHIND ME" Lia screamed, causing Shun to get slightly scared. "But you got so far without me I thought you'd be fine" he blurted out. Lia stood there for a moment, seemingly frozen before skating back over and punching Shun in the arm.

"That's for breaking your promise"

Before giving him a massive hug.

"That's for helping me."

Shun's face tinted slightly pink, he stands there in a sort of shock. He eventually processed what was happening and hugged Lia back.

"Any time"

The others eventually skated over. Wynton somehow dragged Athena and Magnus into helping keep an eye on the chaos that was the Awesome Ones. "Hey guys, how are you doing?" Wynton deadpanned, barely holding up Dan. Shun and Lia just both smiled at each other. "Alright, you don't look so good yourself" Lia remarked, looking at Wynton with a slight smugness. Dan just managed to pull Wynton off of him before retorting.

"I don't know what you're talking about, we're all doing just fi-"

He fell over, they all just stood there for a moment before bursting out into laughter. Magnus ended up sliding next to him and crouching down. "You don't look fine" Dan grabbed his foot, pulling him over as well, causing more laughter. These two were difficult.

"HEY! That's it, we're settling this with a Bakugan battle"

Shun and Lia chuckled to themselves as they watched Dan and Magnus stumble up and slide to an open area. It was a lot more peaceful with just the two of them, holding on to each other. They must've been thinking the same thing before they stared at each other before turning slightly red.

"Let's go watch that Bakugan battle why don't we?"

"Sounds nice."
