She was not fine.

Jennie sat in a living room with plush, velvet couches facing each other in front of the blazing fireplace. She had an old record going in the back to fill in the silence. Octavius, Noodle, and November sat in a pile at her feet.

Jennie ran her hands along the velvet surface, drawing images into the fabric. A clock somewhere ticked loudly. It seemed to echo louder than the music she was playing. She could hear the house creaking.

She could hear the house creaking.

Jennie usually heard Chaeyoung's footsteps around the house, Jisoo shuffling around in her study, the roaring of all the fires around the house, taps running, music playing, people talking. Never, the house settling. Now, all she heard was floorboards moanings and door hinges screaming, amplified in the all surrounding silence.

It started out fine. Jennie spent her last night with Lisa in her but now really their, bed. Lisa had an early morning flight so Jennie didn't sleep at all. She stayed up all night as Lisa rested on her chest, arms and legs wrapped around her body like Noodle. Face buried in her head of wild hair as her hands ran along her spine. Warmth surrounding her like a coffin. Moonlight carefully spilled into their room as Jennie absorbed every last second with her Lisa.

When it was time, Jennie woke Lisa with gentle kisses along her exposed shoulder and neck. She stood on her balcony watching the rays of light slowly slither across the dark sky as Lisa washed up in the bathroom. She felt confident at the time that she could get through three weeks without seeing Lisa. Because Lisa has already promised several times that she would keep in constant contact with her so she didn't feel as alone. However, Jennie also knew Lisa was going to be busy with work so she didn't hold her to her promise.

She could hear Lisa walk up behind her, leaving the door open so that the crisp morning air fluttered into their room, blowing around their curtains. She felt a warm blanket dropped around her shoulders and strong arms wrapping around her.

Jennie lets out a sigh as she leans back into Lisa. They both stand quietly as they watch the dark sky retreat.

"Are all your bags ready?" Jennie asks, voice hoarse with sleep.

She feels Lisa nod beside her head. Lisa leans down to nuzzle further along the side of her face, leaving small kisses. Jennie turns around in her arms, wrapping her arms around her neck. She closes her eyes as she runs her nose along Lisa's. She soaks in her warm presence, the safety of her arms, the feeling of her heart beating with hers.

"Three weeks will pass by before you know it," Lisa whispers. "You can start writing a new manual for your plants, develop some new potions, and find some more antidotes. Before you know it, I'll be back and you'll be so busy with your new work you won't even notice."

Jennie laughs quietly, shaking her head at the idea. "I'll be counting down the hours until you're back."

Lisa kisses her forehead. "It'll be worth it, cara mia, I promise."

Lisa left soon after giving Octavius many kisses and cuddles, and hugging Jisoo and Chaeyoung goodbye. She gave Jennie one last kiss on the lips on the stairs before shuffling off to the car. Jennie watched, comfy wrapped in Lisa's warm and scented coat ㅡ that it's too big it reaches her knees ㅡ from the morning as Lisa drove off into the sunrise.
