After a long night, sleeping on the cold ground, Paru woke up first, as while cuddling Aily, he got hit by a cold wind. He woke up and while looking around, still drowsy, he smelled something good. He rubbed his eyes a little, to get some clarity, and while looking in the way of the tasty smell, he notices two young monsters... They were still small thanks to their young age, their heads reaching a little over Paru's knee. But also thanks to their younger age they were agile.
The guards have decided to give them a challenge, as they wouldn't kill themselves. Paru, finds a note that was left in his robe's hood, it read:
'We expected you to kill each other, seems like you just want to keep rebelling against us, so we gave you a challenge. To save Aily, kill the beasts we have invited into our cell.
P.S- We have a guard looking at you and when you wake up, you have only a few minutes to read this and get ready. Good luck.'After reading that message, Paru's heart sunk, Aily was next to him, but when he looked at her, she was tied up, and still asleep... how has she not waken up while the guards did this...
Paru looks back at the monsters, they were young, still slightly smaller than him, so they were no big problem, but there was still a two against one, so he might get hurt, and the smallest cut, in that well, would quickly get infected.
He sees that the small transparent cage that the monsters were in, was moving. He looks up at the trapdoor and the guard says:
G: "Good luck, prisoner"
The guard than quickly pulls the string, letting the monsters roam freely.Paru, in the blink of an eye, grabs Aily's short sword from her boot, and pushes her behind him. With the monsters getting closer, he didn't have too much time to act, and as they were young, he didn't know if they would go for the closest thing, him, or the easy pray, Aily.
Either way, he was 'ready'. With the short sword, he expected one of them to attack, but, they were both rushing towards him, and behind him was Aily, so if he would dodge, she would probably be their new target, it was him, or her. With each second that passes, the monsters were closer, and... they leap onto him, he could either cut one of them and get bit by the other, dodge and hope they would still go for him, or take them both.
Paru, in that instant for an idea, he cuts the string on his neck, that held his robe, than ducks. As the dark monsters leapt onto him, he finally had the upper hand.As he ducked, and he had removed his robe, it stayed in the air for a little bit, enough time for the monsters to get caught in it, but he had another step to the plan. As he ducked, he held his sword upright, having one of the monsters jump onto it, cutting its head in half, and with the other jumping into the robe, it got stuck at a meter from Aily, but it couldn't see thanks to the robe.
After removing the blade from the dead monster's head, Paru went to the robe, and stuck the blade in the robe.
He than lifts the blood covered robe, and throws it next to the walls, to gt covered by the well's flowing water.Paru goes to Aily, and cuts the ropes that were around her legs and hands, and shakes her a bit, but still, there was no response from Aily...
Already panicking, Paru starts shaking her more ruthlessly, but there was still no response, than he checks her pulse, and if she was breathing... and yes, she was alive, but in a very deep sleep.Paru, a little but more relaxed now, knowing thay Aily was alive at least, he picks up the dead monsters' corpses, and carries them to the farthest point of the well, leaving them there to rot.
His stomach rumbles, and he remembers the smell, looking back from where the monsters came, he saw a potion, and some meat, wich looked lovely. He rushes over there, takes them and brings everything next to Aily's body. There was a lable on the potion, and it read 'Antidote'. He than realised something.
Aily was not waking up, and she didn't realize that they tied her up, because the guards drugged her. So he places her head on his thigh, and makes her drink the antidote. While waiting, he gets the short sword to the running water, and washes the blade, picking back up his wet robe, wich he places on the ground to dry. Than he uses the blade, to separate the meat in half. One of these halfs he eats, saving the other for Aily.
After eating, cold, with his chest bare because he no longer had his robe on, because it was wet, he gets back next to Aily, cuddling her, and waiting for her to wake up.
(Hello there again, this was a slightly longer chapter, and it had the first action in the whole series. I really tried to give some stakes, and I hope you liked it... see you in the next one ~Q.E.~)
