[season 2]
IT'S BEST not to say you've hit rock bottom, because you can always go lower. In this case, Aurora's best friends had died- she couldn't go any lower from where she was right now. She spent the rest of her summer grieving, alike the rest of the Pogues, which wasn't her ideal plan for the summer. They all grieved in different ways: for JJ, it was anger. For Kie, it was sadness. For Pope, it was numbness. And for Rory... it was plenty of bad things...
One example of her many reckless behaviours she had embraced was denial. And denial makes people do terrible things. Rory wouldn't believe they were dead until she saw the evidence, she wouldn't give up on finding the clues and attempting to take down the Cameron's. Aurora had also been finding it difficult to control her emotions, meaning that the Pogues always had to stop her doing something stupid... like, fighting anybody that even breathes 'wrong'.
The Pogues needed to carry on living their normal lives, despite everything that had happened. So, they all had to go back to school. In order to heal, they had to move on- nothing can change the past. However moving on was overrated, it was easier said than done.
Kiara drove them to school, but paused before getting out, "You guys ready?"
"Absolutely not." Aurora replied, as she stared out of the window to see other students looking right at her.
Kiara and Pope got out of the car, followed by JJ and Rory. Her brother was drunk, it was obvious, but she decided not to say anything. Everybody has their own ways of grieving, and Rory wouldn't like it if JJ commented on her coping methods.
JJ took a swig of beer before getting out of the car. Kiara noticed, "Hey, chill out."
"If I black out, don't remind me." JJ deadpanned.
"That's not funny." Kie replied, as she turned to Aurora who was still sitting in the car, "Rory? You coming?"
"If I said no, you'd still force me out of the car so... yeah." Rory replied sarcastically, as she exhaled smoke from her joint. She took a breath, before chucking it out of the window and getting out of the car.
Kiara linked arms with her, as she looked around anxiously, "I feel like people are staring at us."
"Look!"
"I didn't think they would show up."
"Apparently they were in jail."
"They were wanted by the police!"
"Oh, yeah." JJ replied sarcastically, looking around, "We're famous."
"I can't be late to class." Pope said quickly, as he began walking off. Ever since that night, the Heyward boy had been extra quiet, he had been isolating himself and barely leaving his house.
"Hey. Hey." Kie stopped him, holding out a hand for him to hold, "We gotta stick together."
The four made their way down the corridor, whilst Aurora wished for her old life back: no school, alive friends, and doing whatever she wanted. School had always made Aurora anxious, as she wasn't a people person.
"I heard John Routledge kidnapped Sarah." A student whispered to her friend.
"Wouldn't surprise me." The boy replied, "He was wanted for murder-"
Aurora tried to ignore the conversation, but stopped walking and glared at them. She blurted out, "Can you shut the fuck up?"
Kiara encouraged her to carry on walking, before whispering, "Rory, don't."
