Tw : mild swearing"Please get your textbooks out and turn to page 110. Today, we are learning all about Magna Carta. Some of you may have realised that the grammar..." Mr Mason droned on in his monotonous voice as Lillian clicked her pen for the 1000th time.
"Ugh, when is this going to end?" Lillian whispered a little too loudly.
"Excuse me, Miss Morgans, what did you just say? I would like you to speak up a little louder so the whole school can hear you." He said, giving it his usual routine of trying to shame the student into silence." I expect you in afterschool detention so that we can have a chat about your behaviour. "
Teachers and their nerves to make other people feel absolutely shit, with their know-it-all looks and sickly sweet voices when they announce that their student is paying a visit to purgatory. As the chatter and laughter filled the room after the embarrassing incident that they had witnessed and will most likely put it onto the gossip blog: Thegoss101.
Every week, there is a page called the detens page. No girl (or boy, for that matter)was smart enough to spell a single word properly, so they just used some stupid abbreviations to shorten the simplest of words. The " Detens" page is full of people who had managed to get a detention that week and a surprisingly long and descriptive paragraph of how they got there. A mini portfolio, if you will. It contains all the information that you would ever need to see about someone. A picture, DoB, your dorm, form, bedroom, detention history, and more.Lillian had received the award for the worst detention history in the school. 204th time this year. Sometimes, she even had a detention twice a day. She couldn't help it. She was just the kind of girl who was told to speak for herself in her bringing up. All the others were mostly from posh primary private schools and had been raised by nannies. You would think that by the time they were 16 that those habits would be gone by now, but it seems to have been drilled into their unconscience. It was as if it were carved in stone.
As the chatter silenced and people started working on the history project, a loud voice came from behind Lillian." It will be soon enough, don't worry about us. You will find it out. "
Lillian decided to forget about what had happened.
"Hallucinations exist, right? Does that include sound or not? I'm pretty sure that it does. Wait, does this resemble anything in my life? I'm not sure it does. Why is it telling me to do these things if I don't want to do it?" She whispered to herself.
Lillian grew tired of these thoughts and started to doze off , but as this happened, Mr Mason laid eyes on her work." Is this your best work, Miss Morgans? It certainly looks as good as that empty wall. Hurry up, chop chop! You have an exam tomorrow! I expect the whole class to pass this one!"
A familiar voice rang out on the tanoy. "Will the year 11's in room H4 come down to the football field?" It was the head teacher. What trouble had they gotten into now? As they walked over to the pitch, Lillian kept repeating the words that were "spoken " to her. What did it mean? Am I supposed to find out something about this phenomenon, and if so, when?
As they sat down in the stands, the head beckoned them to them, shouting, " Listen up, I have a story to tell you children!" After half an hour of an attempt to calm down the form, he had finally managed to start the little fairy tale.
" Now you see, once apon a time there were two spirits, Ragana and Cindy, Ragana was picking berries one fateful afternoon , but knew that she was only allowed to pick when Cindy was around .She was breaking the rules. But little did she know that this time it could cause a major problem. When she returned to the house, her mother and sister were standing there, infuriated. Cindy knew that she had broken the rules, and as the sisters' consequence, she was sent to inhabit any human she came across. The war continued inside the inhabitant."
Silence.
The whole form was filled with shock. They all knew that he was crazy but didn't think that his usual routine would include this madness or that anyone would even think of saying these things.
"This phenomenon only happens once every year, and as this this school is ancient, we celebrate this event every year with the form that Ragana was from, and it happens to be yours. As well as this fact, it is the two thousand years anniversary, so watch out for any unwell students if you believe in that hogwash. You have the rest of the day off, so be gone with you!"
Nobody was expecting it, and a couple of children even believed that it was true, screaming and hugging their friends. Lillian, Cheryl, and Margaret, however, were on their phones, texting the whole school about what had just happened. With the whole school now fully aware, they found each other through the madness to discuss what to do that night.
" What a load of shit!" Margaret exclaimed, " They actually want us to believe that some stupid spirit war will continue and they will go into someone's body. I don't believe a word of it, but you know me, we literally met in some sort of cult meeting... sooo are we doing some kind of ritual or not?
Excitement came above the group.
" Well, Cheryl and I were going to watch TV in my room, but we can change those plans if needed. I'll do some research and come up with some sort of ritual to do, and I'll text you about it after school, and maybe Cheryl will grab snacks for two. I'm not having a good day today, if you know what I mean. Are you OK with that, Cheryl?" Lillian chirped.
A dazed expression was on Cheryl's face as she slumped onto the floor.
