Matteo lights his cig and passes the lighter to me. Lifting it to his mouth he starts to say something muffled that I couldn't understand. I look at him confused as I light mine. He repeats himself. " I hate those stupid pricks" I nod in agreement, right before blowing out smoke. "But, that one girl-" I start to try and speak. "NO, NO! SHUT IT DOWN!" He yells at me, kicking my foot gently. "I can admit when someone's hot! Even if they're a prick!" I yell back with a joking tone.

He sighs with a smile, putting the cigarette up to his face again.

"Like," I continued to rant. "It's not like I want anything to happen. It's just," I pause and he looks at me with a smug smile. "You know what we're both thinking." Matteo says, tilting his head at me.

"What are we thinking?" I ask him, playing dumb.

"You know you like her, ADMI-" He gets cut off by me covering his mouth. We hear someone walk in, and he lifts his feet up on the toilet seat to make it seem natural, like it's just me.

A familiar voice speaks from out of the stall. My stomach drops when I realize it's Nancy, and her friend Hazel. "So, how was it with Mrs. Sophie today?" Hazel says, opening what sounds like a lipgloss or mascara. Everything goes quiet for a moment and me and Matteo make eye contact. "Well, it was weird actually. She mentioned that girl, Anais. That I could be in love with her or something."

Matteo nudges and shoves my arm aggressively with a wide smile on his face. Trying to be quiet, I try to push him off the toilet seat. When I finally got him to stop, we looked back to see if they were still standing there. Sure enough, they were and were looking at the stall. Nothing happens, we're both quiet. I motion my head to the side, telling him we should leave.

The stall squeaks loud as ever as we walk out, I could see Hazel's eyes in the mirror widening, while looking at Nancy. Matteo tracks behind me with that same smug grin. When we're finally out, I feel as if my face is red as a tomato. Matteo is laughing so hard he falls on the floor and knocks down a wet floor sign. I start laughing hysterically as well before we get up and walk to class.
