I find Hazel in the hall and sprint toward her. I stop beside her and grab her arm for support, struggling to breathe. " Guess who's house I'm going to after school today?" I say trying to keep my excitement at bay. "Oh my god, no..." she says with a surprised look on her face. "Yeah, It's for studying but still-" she cuts me off "OH MY GOD!!". I clasp my hand on her mouth. "Not too loud, I wouldn't want her to notice us AGAIN". She quiets down and gives a tiny squeal instead. I smile at her and take the rest of my things out of my locker.

I get out of my car looking at Anais' house. It was kind of a pale gray, with two floors and a dark brown door. "Nancy?" My dad repeats to me. "Sorry-" I say, starting to try and apologize.

He sighs, "Latest I'll pick you up is 7:00 okay? Remember, be polite." I roll my eyes at the last sentence, "It'll all be good don't worry." I smile while shutting the car door.

Trying to keep calm, I hold in my smile and march up her driveway.

Knocking at the door, I hear footsteps approach and my heart starts racing. A familiar face opens the door, but not Anais. Her cousin Lillith is standing in front of me, staring me down.

"Hey, here for Anais, she mentioned someone coming over," she says. My hands start shaking at the condescending look she has on her face. "Yeah..." I managed to say through my anxiety. Lilith smiled a little. "She's in her room, up the stairs and the second one to the right."

"Thanks," I say, returning the smile. As I get up the stairs I can hear her pounding rock music blasting through the door. First, I knocked hoping she could maybe hear me. For about 30 seconds nothing happened so I just burst in. She was standing

in the middle of her room playing her electric guitar, her eyes widened seeing me in her doorway. Instantly stopped playing. "Hey," she says, putting her guitar to the side. "Hi." I answer, just as awkward as before. This could not get any worse.
