Chapter Three. And my cheeks are growing tired
─────────────────────────────

Betty was woken up by the ringtone of her phone, she groaned as she covered her face with her hands, the cold metal of her rings made her take them off. Soon the sound stopped and the teenager turned over onto her side again, until the sound blared in the boat again. She sat up quickly and grabbed her phone so Sarah didn't wake up.

Betty furrowed her eyebrows when she saw Brooke's name on her phone, the sun was barely up. She pressed the answer button and brought the phone up her ear, immediately hearing Brooke's loud voice.

"Betty! Do you wanna hang out today?" She was loud, Betty brought her phone down to see the time, it was so damn early. "Also, where are you at? Rafe said you were staying at his house but you guys weren't in Sarah's room." Brooke added.

"On the boat, but yeah. I'll just throw on some clothes." She responded before she hung up, she quietly to make sure she didn't wake Sarah up. She grabbed everything of hers and opened the door to the Druther's, she then closed them quietly again.

She gasped when she turned around and someone was standing there, "John B." Betty stated when she realized who was standing there, his eyebrows were raised in shock— she was definitely not supposed to be here.

"What are you doing here?" John B questioned her, she scoffed in response. "Um great question, John B. What am I doing here? Huh, it's my beat friend's boat and we slept here— what are you doing here?" Betty asked as she leaned her weight on one foot and held her bag in front of her.

John B laughed nervously as he looked down at the tanks, "Just dropping these off, you know I do work here. So I-I'm not just here for no reason, Elizabeth." He spoke nervously fiddling with the tanks and stuttering over his words, the girl in front of him glared at him when he called her by her government name.

"Don't call me that." Betty warned him, he knew it was a low blow but he still said it. Instead of apologizing he scoffed.

"Y'know, Betty, we were friends once." John B remarked smirking.

Betty rolled her eyes with a bitter smile, "Yeah," She replied, "Now you treat me like every other kook on this island when you see me— hm, remember that time when you saw me getting food at The Wreck and you and JJ 'accidentally' spilled ranch on me? I mean c'mon, do you do that to all your friends?" She described one of the many times he treated her like that causing John B to frown.

He quickly straightened his back and scoffed, "Mhm, don't you have somewhere to be?" He told the girl, she nodded putting her bag onto her shoulder.
