A/N: Just a warning that from now on, things will be very steamy. I have changed the story's rating to reflect this. ;-)
I had no idea how many days had passed since my newly discovered mate was taken from me. All that I knew, was that it was too long. It had not taken me terribly long to recover my powers and strength once I had retreated to the healing depths. Soon, I had returned to where I had last seen the machine with my future Queen fleeing — picking up the lingering trace of her presence in that sixth sense Titans had for detecting their mates.
A variety of curious sea creatures followed me off and on. They knew intuitively who I was, but it had been so long since a Titan of the sea's presence had graced this world, that I was a thing of novelty. I relished their company after so many eons of separation, and although it was nothing like the presence of my mate would do for me, it was soothing. They shared their knowledge of this world with me, as so much had changed now hardly anything in the human world was as I remembered it. Most alarmingly, they told me reverence for the old deities and respect for nature was all but gone now. In fact, the natural world's health was rapidly deteriorating, as evidenced also by the massive pollution in my kingdom, the oceans.
I assured them that once my Queen was secured, I would work to restore the natural order of the world. This renewed hope in them, as so many were suffering from starvation, entrapment in human nets and garbage, and inability to produce healthy offspring. It was enraging to me, their King and caretaker.
Although I did have the company of my fellow sea brethren, the time spent looking for my mate was excruciating in a way my imprisonment in Tartarus was not.
There was urgency. Fear. And so much longing and desire — the likes I had never experienced before. I not only wanted her, but needed her to continue my existence. Things had been triggered in me that could not be undone and must be seen through to the end, or eventually, I world perish. So goes the tales, anyways.
I snorted in derision. Yes: me, the all-powerful, immortal Talveyós, Titan and King of the seas, could apparently be destroyed by something as simple as never mating his Queen. It was our greatest weakness, and our greatest weakness which brought us our greatest strength. Ironic, truly.
But I was confident. As torturous as the journey was, I knew that I would find her. It was only a matter of time. The puny humans would not stand a chance against my might once I located my mate.
It was during my exploration of some shallower, warmer waters of a tropical sea of my kingdom, that I caught my first scent of her in days.
I froze, my massive head and chest above the lapping waves as the first rays of a brilliant sunrise caressed my scaled skin.
I smiled with true joy, closing my eyes, and just inhaling the sweet, heady scent of her deep into my body. Sharp tingles of awareness and arousal shot through me, anchoring in my heart as a physical pull in the direction of my female's scent.
And was that...?
My cock jerked with the sudden flash of pure lust, almost startling me with its intensity. I had hardly paid any attention to that specific part of my anatomy in my long life. I'd always abhorred the lusty ways of the Gods, seeing no reason to indulge in such frivolous, useless activities. I figured there would be time enough for that when I found my mate.
Now engaging in said activities with her was about all I could focus on. I opened my mouth as I inhaled again, opening up every sense I had to the caressing scent.
My Queen was approaching her heat, no doubt started up when she encountered her mate. Me.
Pride surged in my chest. Pride, and white-hot need.
