This will be a long night."
The cold wind whipped through the clear night air, causing the tree's leaves to rustle in the wind. The moon shone down on the city, placing a hypnotizing glow over it. A warm smell drifted out of a late-night cafe. The city was gorgeous and pleasant- the city of Manhattan. Well, for all but the crime. Broken windows and graffiti lined the walls of the alleyways. Foul air danced around, threatening anyone who may pass in the early hours of the morning. Kiyo rubbed her eyes, turning the attention of both Nanami and Silvia toward her. Silvia chucked.
"Getting tired?" Kiyo responded with a glare. Silvia softened her playful gaze.
"You know I'm kidding. We're all tired." She turned her head back out to the city. Nanami turned her attention to Silvia, sitting at the end of the building. Her dull blue eyes were scanning the dirty ground below, and her long blond hair was tied in a braid and dangled in her face. She threw it behind her and went back to searching. Any sign of movement, and she would pounce. Any sound she heard would be captured and acted upon. The thought of crime sent shivers down Silvia's spine. People hurt people; it made her blood run cold. But the thought of busting that crime and making the people face justice gave her a thrill like no other.
"See anything yet," Kiyo asked Silvia. She snapped out of her daze. Her stand, Murmur, was hovering next to her, keeping her company.
"I wish. You were right when you said this will be a long night, Nanami. Also, why is Murmur next to you?"
"I'm trying to pay attention to what's going on, but I'm a little lonely," Kiyo responded.
"You're using the power of a stand, which manifests from your soul and has the power to destroy many things, to keep you company," Nanami asked sarcastically.
"You know that I get lonely," Kiyo defended. "Besides, having something that understands you completely feels good sometimes."
"No lying to the stands then," Silvia commented. "The fact that those things come from your souls freaks me out."
"The fact that you don't have one yet you can see them freaks me out more," Nanami retorted, once again sarcastically.
"Just another reason for me to not have one." Nanami snorted and went back to her hair. She pulled out one of her pigtails and decided to redo it. Some neon blue dye spread onto her hand, staining it. She tried to spit it off and rub it against her pants, but a fierce web trapped her wrist, locking it in place. Nanami looked up to where it came from, only to find Silvia still had her eyes trained on the ground. She struggled against the web, but it held her face. Without thinking, she summoned her stand, Dusk Breaking, to try and get the web off.
"Don't, Nanami," Kiyo half-yelled, voice faltering. Kiyo knew Nanami was vicious. It was what made Nanami such a lethal threat.
"She won't hurt Silvia, will she," Kiyo asked herself. Without turning around or even moving, Silvia spoke.
"Why did you summon Dusk," she asked, voice cutting through the air, all the playfulness sucked out of it.
"You're holding onto my wrist and won't let go," Nanami Iresponded an equal amount of sharpness in her voice.
"So you are going to electrocute me?" Nanami thought about it for a moment. It was tempting.
"It's possible. Your webs look like they would be highly conductive." Snapping her head back to face Nanami, Silvia's glare struck Nanami. The dull blue which was so easy to get lost in was replaced with the two-tone horror. One red and one yellow eye peered up at her, challenging her.
