A/N: Hey, uhhh, sorry in advance if this chapter isn't that great, I just need to transition from the end of the work day to that contest Chica was talking about a couple chapters ago. I'm also feeling really crummy (threw up twice and slept on a tile floor last night, yay... 🥱), so I'm just really just shoving words into this until I decide I'm done.

After a long day of scanning and performances, it was time to go check on Moon. Every evening when I went to check on him, there were children sleeping. Occasionally I would see and hear him holding and singing a song to a small child who was having a nightmare. I didn't even think he knew I checked up on him every day, because everyday when I went to the daycare to check on him, it was purely so I could take notes on his behavior.

I'd gotten to the point where I thought it was safe to assume a few things, 1) He loved and was devoted to protecting kids, 2) He was quiet, and liked to keep things that way, and 3) It was very important to him that the kids stayed asleep.

Since I'd hit the one week mark, I decided that I should try to talk to him. I hadn't scanned him all week, and if something was up with him that I didn't know about, I could lose my job.

I entered the daycare, which was dark, and navigated through the maze that was the daycare jungle gym until I found the place where the children napped. I couldn't see Moon, though, which concerned me. I listened for his lullaby until I managed to hear something. It was definitely his lullaby, just faint. I strained my ears to get a general idea as to where Moon might be located, but it confused me. I could've sworn for a moment he was... above me.

Looking up, I tried to see if there really was something above me. When I saw nothing, I whispered, "Hello? Moon, are you here?"

     And then the music stopped.

I heard a slightly familiar zip and click, then to both my relief and regret I also heard Moon's voice, "Why are you here?"

I turned around, giving him a smile, and said quietly, "I'm checking up on you, silly! It's my job!"

When he didn't respond I asked, "So how are you?"

"Well, I was doing fine until you showed up," he replied bitterly.

Part of me wasn't surprised that he had responded like that. It seemed very... him.

"Oh, well I'm really sorry about that, but frankly you're stuck with me until I get a new job, or I quit, or I'm fired, et cetera et cetera. And therefore, it's important for both mine and your well being that you give me a proper response when I ask how you're doing."

"There is nothing wrong with me. I've been functioning perfectly since you last saw me. And therefore, you can go now."

I shook my head, "No, I need to scan you. Didn't Dave used to do that?"

He growled, "Dave scanned me all right. He also told me how pathetic I was, how I'm the most pitiful of all the animatronics, that everyone prefers Sun over me."

     Oh...

"Moon... I didn't... That's not true!" I exclaimed. I immediately covered my mouth and looked over towards the children. I few of them were stirring, and looked like they were on the verge of waking up.

Moon and I rushed over to them, but he protested quietly, "Don't touch them! You'll only wake them up!"

I shot him a look and whispered shouted, "I can help! Just let me!"
