A/N: Hey, this is another long(er) chapter just FYI. Not long, I guess. Just longer. Actually it's the longest one so far, nearly 3,000 words, in fact! Happy reading!!! ;)
I was drawing in my sketchbook, waiting for Freddy to arrive. I decided it would be fun to try drawing Rosemary with her moon plush. She had been so adorable when she was sleeping, and even more so when she was spending time with Moon.
The thought made me smile. Moon seemed so happy when he was braiding her hair and when she made his bells jingle. I looked forward to seeing him tomorrow so I could ask him what he thought of it.
But when Freddy's door whirred open, I automatically slammed my sketchbook closed. I had always been hesitant to let others see my work, whether I thought it was good or not. I preferred it when I drew a picture and used it as chapter art for a story I was writing, so I wouldn't have to see the reaction of the people looking at my art. I felt a lot more secure that way.
"Hello Freddy!" I sang, "And how was your day?"
"It went perfectly," he smiled.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Like, absolutely 100% positive?"
"I am absolutely 100% positive."
"... You sure?"
He rolled his eyes playfully and chuckled, "You seem to be out for problems. I'm sorry we're so effortlessly flawless, Y/N."
"Yeah, yeah. Way to rub it in," I laughed.
We went through the usual evening routine until I was finished cleaning him. Occasionally I would find bits of birthday cake still stuck in their mouths, and I needed to spray them down with some funky disinfectant spray that made me cough a concerning amount if I inhaled it. I found that out the hard way when I was spraying Chica on my third day.
I checked Paimon for the time (I really needed to get a watch) and found that it was 9:27. There was 33 minutes until closing time, so the gang would basically be free to roam around until opening the next day.
"So what are your plans for after closing, Freddy? You're participating in that contest Chica told me about, right?"
"Yes! Although, I'm not too confident I'll be winning. Chica has been practicing something all day that sounds really good. Besides, I don't have an actual instrument to play while I sing, so that gives me a bit of a disadvantage."
"But you have the best voice!" I reminded him, "At least, that's what I think. And I'm judging, so I think my opinion is pretty important."
He beamed at my compliment, "That's very nice of you to say, Y/N. Thank you!"
"You're welcome!" I replied gladly.
We both stood outside of the protective cylinder and I waited for him to leave. I thought we were done talking, but it seemed like Freddy had something more he wanted to say.
"Ummm... Freddy? Is there anything else I can help you with?"
He looked down at his feet, but then looked back at me. He said, "Earlier... with Dave. You never answered my question. Are... are you okay?"
"Of course!" I responded, "I mean, he called me a name, that's all. He's the one that shouldn't be okay. I would be so embarrassed if I was acting the way he was. He is such an obvious jerk that I wouldn't have talked to him at all anyway after the whole El Chip's disaster."
