Akashi Yuzuki and Zen'in Toji were sorcerer killers.
The infant's cries were soft, almost pleading, as the maid held her close. She had been given a direct order: Execute the child. But instead, she wrapped the newborn in a blanket and pressed her against her chest.
she wasn't running away.
she was saving her.
with steady hands, she packed her belongings, barely filling a single bag. there wasn't much she could take. Not much she needed—only the baby in her arms.
A voice cut through the silence, making her freeze.
"where are you going?"
the maid turned sharply, eyes wide, only to be met with the imposing figure of zen'in toji.
she swallowed, then straightened her back. "my house. to keep this gojo's daughter safe."
A beat of silence. Then—
"I'll help you."
relief flooded through her, though she didn't dare show it. Instead, she gave a small nod. "Thank you, toji-san."
the road was quiet as they traveled. the baby had settled, her tiny fingers curling against the maid's chest.
it was toji who finally broke the silence. "what should we name her?"
the maid glanced at him, surprised he was even considering it. "you want to name her?"
he shrugged. "might as well. she'll need one."
she thought for a moment, then asked, "any ideas?"
toji hummed in thought before smirking. "how about y/n?"
the maid chuckled, "didn't know you were so creative with names."
"believe me, I'll probably forget it anyway."
laughter faded into quiet once more. the weight of what they were doing—the danger of it—loomed over them like an unshakable shadow.
"you know what you're up against, don't you?" toji's voice was low, serious.
the maid tightened her grip on the baby. "I do, but I don't care. I hate them. I want to kill them so badly." her voice wavered. "but... at the same time, I can't leave the boy behind. I want to raise him too... but is it right to separate them?"
toji exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "it's not about right or wrong. it's about keeping them alive. I'll take care of y/n when I can. you take care of the boy in that damned gojo clan. But we can't do this forever."
