TWO YEARS LATER..."I swear I don't know why Joshua needed all of us here for this," Erica spoke loudly as the basketball game continued on.
"Because he wants family here to support him at this last game," Tina said rubbing Erica's shoulder.
The game was over. Josh stood in the middle of the stadium waving at the crowd. His jersey is in his hands. After a few years of playing, Josh felt like it was time to give it up. He stood next to reporters as the crowd began to dissipate.
"Is there anything you want to say before we say goodbye?" The lady put the mic in his face.
"I just want to thank everyone for your unwavering support throughout the years. It's been incredible. But there is one thing I need help with before I go. Can Erica come down please?"
Melo pushed her on the shoulder forcing her to stand up. Erica blushed as she was escorted onto the floor. What the fuck was he doing? Erica watched as he got down on one knee, pulling out a ring from his pocket.
Covering her face she tried to take a deep breath. With a shaky hand, Joshua reached up and took hers. The diamond ring flashed in her face. It was perfect. It was everything she wanted. They had only talked about marriage a few times but she never thought he'd do it now.
"I know we've only been together for a few years, but they've been the best years of my life. You followed me where ever I went. Now it's time I followed you. Will you marry me?" He asked only loud enough for her to hear.
At this point, the crowd began chanting, "Say yes!"
Erica couldn't stop smiling, "I always knew you were corny. But yes I will marry you."
Joshua hugged her tight swinging her in the air.
....
Erica opened the door to her hotel room. She had just finished visiting some local artists in Peru. Joshua lay on the hotel bed flipping through channels. Erica twisted her ring off and placed it on the counter next to the safe.
Rose barked jumping down from the bed where Josh was. Erica patted the dog's head before walking over to Joshua.
"Hi, hubby," Erica said leaning down to kiss his lips.
Stripping from her clothes she entered the bathroom turning on the shower. Joshua leaned against the bathroom door. He hadn't seen her all day and was eager to hear her voice.
"How was it?" He asked handing her a washcloth.
"Good, I think I finally found two artists who are good for next year's tour. Shanice has me following her to all these places. I mean I love the culture but I just want to sight-see. It's so beautiful here."
"I've been thinking after the tour, maybe we can bounce around a bit," Josh spoke trying not to peek at her through the curtain.
Erica pulled the towel around her wet body, "Really? That would be so much fun! I've been selling work like crazy but I think we can make it work."
Josh placed his arm around her waist not caring about getting wet, "I mean we've already been to Brazil, Kenya, Sydney, and now Peru. Why not just finish the world tour."
Erica laughed at his joke, "Mhm. This time we go wherever you wanna go."
He kissed her lips three times, "As long as I'm with you, everything else is underrated."
