CHAPTER EIGHT

BETTER THAN MY DREAMS

"Are you nervous?" Ganyu asked, waiting for Lisa to finish curling Jean's ponytail so it had the perfect curl. "I dunno. I just kinda see it as a fun event where I can hang out with friends," Luma explained, shrugging as they continued applying their concealer. "Well, it seems like you're trying to impress someone, dear. I've never seen you put on this amount of makeup for...anything really," Lisa mentioned, widening her eyes at the realization.

Luma went silent after that - not knowing what to say. "That is true. Who's the lucky person, Lumi?" Hu Tao asked, styling her hair in her signature style. "Um...uh." Luma stumbled over their words, not being able to come up with an excuse that quickly. "Don't pressure them with questions, Hu Tao," "It's quite rude," Jean and Mona scolded her.

"Sorry! Sorry." Her exclamation turned into a whisper. "But there is someone?"

"Hu Tao!" The girls said unanimously.

"I'm so nervous!" Itto exclaimed in a panicked tone, holding his face. "You don't even have anyone to impress, relax," Shinobu told him, shaking her head slightly while she did her eyeliner. "Of course I do! I can't look like a total mess in front of Lumi!"

"They're not your date, bozo," Heizou reminded him, fixing his tie in the mirror. "Luma scored and got two dates," Tartaglia added, pouting. "Stop that, you're almost a college student," Shinobu scoffed, cringing. "How'd that happen again?" Itto asked in a confused tone.

"Dude, it's Luma, I'd be surprised if they didn't show up with more than one date," Heizou replied, subtly glaring at Scaramouche and Xiao who were helping each other with their ties. Shinobu shook her head and laughed at the boys' desperation.

"But, Luma was gonna tell everyone Scaramouche was scared to take them out if he declined. Xiao was an obvious choice," Shinobu reminded the boys. "How?" Xiao asked.

The group was silent, yet so loud.

"Anyways, I can see why he's going with them now. You don't want them to win in your silly little rivalry, do you?" Tartaglia chuckled, smiling at Scaramouche teasingly. Scaramouche just huffed in response.

"What do you think the girls and Luma are doing?" Kazuha asked, trying to release the tension. "Probably gossiping and doing each other's makeup," Itto said in a girly voice. "Do you know what girls do when they actually hang out with each other?" Shinobu stared at her friend.

"Yeah, what he just said," Tartaglia replied in a questioning tone, turning his attention away from bothering Scaramouche. Shinobu stayed silent, trying to have Itto and the boys figure it out for themselves.

"I don't get it," Heizou added, shaking his head. "Wait...no...No!" Itto said dramatically, fake crying. "Dude, what is it?" Tartaglia asked, trying to catch on. He had to go over with Shinobu to console Itto. "What is it? We still don't know what it is?" Scaramouche groaned, becoming uninterested in the topic.
