(Saylor's POV)
"Please Saylor?" I asked.
"I'm sorry, I can't," I replied. "Caleb would kill me. Especially since you two are, you know, dating."
"Are you okay?" Jodi asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I replied, before letting out a slight cough.
Jodi got closer to me. She out her hand up to my forehead. She clicked her tongue before saying, "I think you caught my cold. Here, lie down on my bed."
She put the covers over me, before taking a thermometer and putting it in my mouth. I tried hard not to cough. She took it out. "Aw, Saylor, you've got a fever," she said sympathetically. "I'm gonna text Caleb."
She took out her phone and texted my brother. Then she began coughing herself. "Come lie down," I said, and she got in bed with me.
I hugged her. "Good night Sayles," she said, before we both fell asleep.
(Caleb's POV)
I got a text from Jodi saying that Saylor wasn't feeling well. I went down to her room as soon as I got out of class.
I walked in and it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Jodi was up against the wall, her head resting up against the headboard. Saylor was sleeping with her head on Jodi's stomach. I kissed both of their foreheads. Jodi began to wake up. "Hey," she said.
"Hey," I replied. "How're you feeling?"
"Pretty good," she replied. "But I'm going to stay out of school tomorrow because of the 24 hour rule."
"Cool," I said. "How's Sayels?"
"Burning up," Jodi replied. "We really need to get her to the nurse."
(Jodi's POV)
"Kk, I'll get her," Caleb replied. "Can you stay here with her?"
"Sure," I replied, ruffling Saylor's hair.
"Thanks," Caleb said as he walked out the door.
Almost as soon as Caleb left, Corki and Sun Hi walked in. "Hey, how do you feel?" Corki asked.
"A lot better," I replied, then looked down at Saylor. "I wish I could say the same for her."
"Awe, did she get sick?" Corki asked.
"Yeah," I replied. "She's burning up, it's starting to scare me."
"When did you last check her temperature?" Corki asked.
"About an hour ago," I replied.
"We should check it again," Corki said. "Sun Hi, can you hand me the thermometer?"
"Sure," Sun Hi replied, handing Corki the thermometer.
"Saylor," Corki said gently. "C'mon, I gotta check your temperature."
Saylor coughed as she woke up. Corki put the thermometer in her mouth. When it dinged, Corki gasped. She showed it to me. "Omg," I heard Sun Hi mutter.
The thermometer read: 103.8
"Saylor, sweetie," I said softly. "You've got a really high temperature."
"Jodi, I want Caleb," Saylor whined.
"I know," I said soothingly. "He went to get the nurse, so he'll be back soon, I promise."
"Jodi, could you hand me my phone?" Saylor asked weakly.
"Of course," I said, grabbing her phone. "Here you go."
Saylor hit a speed dial number and put whoever it was on speaker. "What do you want?" a female voice asked, it sounded like Aria.
"Aria, I'm sick," I replied. "And eventually I'm gonna have to come back to our room. Can you and Saph take care of me?"
"Uh no," Aria replied. "I wouldn't get near you. Better stay with those XO-IQ girls so that they get sick. Hey, that's a great idea. They can't perform if they're sick!"
"Aria, I would never do that," I replied.
"You're such a wimp," she replied, her voice doing some weird tone change.
"Aria, don't even-"
"Wimp, wimp, wimp."
"Ex!"
Aria stopped. "What did you just say?" she asked.
"You heard me," Saylor said. "'Ex.' You know why? Because I'm starting to see why Caleb broke up with you!"
Aria sighed. "I could care less wimp," she replied, then hung up.
I looked over at my friends then back at Saylor. Her eyes were wet with tears. "Oh Saylor," I said, giving her a hug. "Don't listen to her."
"It's not that," she replied. "Wimp is just... a bad word, let's go with that. Things happened when I was younger with that word."
"What happened?" Sun Hi asked.
"I'm not ready to talk about it," Saylor replied. "It's just... bad, okay?"
"Okay," I replied, giving her another hug. "So, Caleb and Aria dated?"
"Yeah," Saylor replied. "Why they broke up... it's complicated."
I smiled. Caleb suddenly burst into the room. "Hey Sayels," he said, kissing her forehead. "Wow, you're burning up."
The nurse came in behind Caleb. "Okay," she said. "Let's get this over with."
The nurse checked out Saylor. "It's a bad flu," the nurse replied. "I guess I should get Valerie."
"No," I said. "Look, I'm better, but I have to stay out tomorrow for the 24 hour rule. I'll take care if her. Then it's the weekend, so I can still take care of her."
"Fine," the nurse replied, handed me a medicine bottle, and walked out the door.
Saylor was sleeping peacefully in my bed. "I should get her back to her room," Caleb said, before I stopped him.
"Don't," I replied. "Things are bad between her and Aria. I don't want that idiot to make her worse."
"Hey, Aria isn't an idiot!" Caleb yelled, waking up Saylor.
"Caleb?" she asked weakly.
"Hey, sorry," he replied, then turned to me. "But don't insult Aria."
"Why not?" I asked. "She insulted Saylor."
"Yeah," Saylor said. "She's an idiot."
"She isn't an idiot!" Caleb yelled.
"Who's side are you on?" Saylor asked.
"I guess her's," Caleb replied, then went out the door.
