George POV"George?"
His eyes visibly soften for a quick second as he realizes who I am before he regroups himself and pinches his brows together. "Are you insane? I could have killed you!" He straightens up, pushing himself to his full height after having slammed me against the wall. He seems angry, worried even.
It's almost as if he cares about me. And I know it's just because he needs me, but the wanted feeling of having someone care is what has been pushing my thoughts into reading something that is far more than it really is.
He presses me for an answer, removing his helmet and throwing his arms out in frustration, "what the fuck are you doing here?" He questions aggressively, giving me a chance to explain myself once again.
"I- I didn't know where else to go" I stutter out, saying the most truthful yet embarrassing thing I could have said. I really didn't know where to go, my house wasn't safe and it's not like I can hide out at a colleagues house. If they knew why I was hiding they'd hate me too.
And as for my parents, they think highly of me so I wouldn't want to jeopardize that, and also they don't really see me often, I just send them money when they need, and visit on holidays.
The tension seems to leave his body after registering the words that have fallen from my mouth. He studies me for a bit, and I can feel as though he finally takes a good enough look to realize the nervous wreck in front of him.
It feels like i'm being judged, and rightfully so. Who am I to show up out of the blue at his house? I feel like a crazy ex trying to crawl my way back into their significant others life.
I feel pathetic, and the silence is almost confirming I am. I shake my head and move my dominant hand to rub against the back of my neck, "wow" I say and let out a small breathily chuckle to hide my embarrassment, "I don't know what I was thinking I-I'm so sorry" I ramble and pace a little before heading for the stairs of his porch. "I'll be going now"
"George" he grabs my wrist as I'm about to make my first step down the small staircase. He turns me to face him, "you're shaking, what happened?" The worried look behind his eyes rushes back onto his features when he speaks, and I can't help but feel safe with him. I can't tell if it is because of the current state I am in right now and I'm reading things differently because I want to feel comforted, but my career has definitely helped me read people, even if this emotion isn't something I have experienced a lot.
He sighs at my silence and glances back at his door. "It's cold out, you can calm down a bit and then you can tell me what happened, alright?" he speaks smoothly, and the softness of his tone makes me want to crawl into his arms and let out the huge roller coaster of emotions I have been keeping locked away for years crash in front of his very eyes.
But instead, all I do is nod.
__
It's been around half an hour that i've been here. He offered me some tea and I took it even though I'm not the biggest fan of tea, the gesture felt too nice to refuse. He turned the fire on and gave me a blanket. I felt like one of those wives that had just lost their husband and the police are trying to calm her down before she is able to participate in the investigation.
The good news is I have finally managed to calm down. The last few days to a week have been the most eventful yet stressful ones i've had across a spend of years, and I've been working with these types of people for awhile now. Nothing has compared to this week.
Also now being level headed, I realize how embarrassing and unprofessional it is to randomly show up to your clients house, specifically the house he doesn't use for business reasons, because you had no where else to go.
