I hated flying. If anyone asked me what my biggest fear is, it was definitely at the top of my list. But here I was, sat in the airport waiting to be called to board.
I was heading home after finishing Uni in Indiana. Why the hell I did that in the first place was beyond me. But my best friend, Robin had family there and was set on going the Uni in her hometown so me being the bestest friend in the world and not knowing what to do in life decided to go with her. Right now, totally regretting it.
"Oh honey, this is so exciting, your father and I can't wait." My moms voice screeched down the phone. "Your father, has booked the weekend off just to be with you. He's so happy you're coming home."
One thing you should know about my dad, he never showed interest in me. He wanted a son when mom was pregnant with me, you could imagine how happy he was when a girl popped out.
"I'm sure he is mom." I replied, she obviously didn't hear the sarcastic tone in my voice. "Hey mom, I gotta go but I'll call you when I land."
"Alright sweetheart, I'll have a car waiting for you when you land. Love you."
"Love you too, mom."
I let out a breath when I hung up. I headed to the bar to clear my head, the thought of the next year to come wracking my brain. My mom and dad, even though they were loving were also strict, dad more than mom. He had my life planned out for me before I was born, well for a son but he didn't change it when I arrived on earth. We had a deal and I kept to my word, he would let me go off and do what I wanted, but when I came home I would have to work for him for a year. If I didn't enjoy it after a year, I was free to do what I wanted. Pretty fair deal for my dad.
I beckoned the bartender over and ordered myself a martini. While I was trying not to down the drink in one go, what looked to be a Rock God stood beside me and ordered himself a drink. He was tall and lean, I could still see he was toned under his shirt and leather jacket. His dark curly hair stopped just below his shoulder and his dark brown eyes looked like chocolate buttons, they were gorgeous. He looked familiar but I couldn't pinpoint where I'd seen him.
I pinched myself to stop staring at him like a creep before he caught me. I took a sip of my martini and glanced at him again as he turned with his drink to walk away. He had caught me looking this time and sent me a smile while we made eye contact. The brief 3-second contact was enough to make my cheeks flush.
God, this was stupid.
He's not even someone I would normally go for. He's actually the opposite of the guys I've been with, but he still had some sort of effect of me.
Get your head out of the gutter, you're at an airport for fucks sake!
My inner thoughts shouted at me as I sipped on drink. They woman over the speaker was announcing that my plane was boarding. I turned to grab my suitcase when I stopped and ordered another drink.
One more won't hurt.

They were about to shut the doors when I handed the guy my ticket.
"You're late, you almost missed the flight." He said with a scowl.
I wanted to hit back with a comment but instead just smiled and brushed off his rudeness. He allowed me through and when I found my seat I pushed my bag into the compartment above my head. I sat down and took in a deep breath. I instantly gripped onto the armrest preparing myself. I've flown before, but every time my fear of it grew. There was something about this flight though. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
