Why do I?

I crave your touch, your lips, your laugh,

But when you bring it to me, I know it will never last.

I miss you even more after you leave,

Then I would have if you'd never come to me.

I invite you into my door,

The knowledge that you can not stay hurts to the core.

My heart grows large with your every smile,

Only to break, when you leave, into one large pile.

I wish I knew why I let you do this to me.

Why I let you in.

Why I let you see.

Why I continue to call you a friend, miserably.

Love winds deep,

It's not easy to receive, yet easy to keep.

Breaking your every thought,

Filling your head with the happiness sought.
